Both of the best world for eating from the tree and baking in a pie. Yum! Can't wait to pick from them. There is a small place in my yard for where these two trees will fit nicely.

I chose this Sweet Tart Cherry Tree Collection because it gave me the best selection of sweet and pie cherries at a great price. My old Montmorency Cherry tree I bought from Stark Bros many years ago was destroyed in a violent storm, splitting it down the middle. I use to pick the cherries and make a patriotic Cherry/Blueberry pie every year that was delicious!

When I get my trees can I put them in a bucket of water while I get my spot to plant them ready?
erica l on May 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The trees need to be heeled in. They need dirt for their roots to grow. Just get a 3 gallon pot and plant them in pots with a mixture of potting soil, peat moss and top soil. Water them with rain water or a light fertilizer. I use Dr. Earth for fruiting plants and just mix a little into the top of each pot, about 4 tablespoons is all it takes. The trees will begin to grow their roots, and when you get the spot ready for them to be planted it will be better for them. I am a master gardener and this is exactly what I did for my cherry tree collection. The first year I got just one single cherry (it was adorable). This is my second year and they had lots of blossoms, so I hope to get a few cups this year of delicious tart cherries. I make pies and jams with cherries, and add them to watermelon juice, or other smoothies. Enjoy your fruit!
I had 2 cherry trees in northern Maine and they were infested with whatever. Are they always so vulnerable to pests?

Amazing growth!
Both trees jumped from a couple feet tall to over 6 feet in a single season! This is only their second year in my yard, and they haven't fruited yet, but the trees are big and healthy!

Fast Growers
We planted both trees last spring before the deluge. Both trees are growing rapidly. The tart cherry was the smaller of the two and has a good bowl shape. The sweet cherry started skyward and at this time is already 12 feet tall and is starting to branch out. We are looking forward to plenty of cherries if the initial growth is any indication.

Cherry tree collection
My trees are not producing yet, I planted them last spring. One did not leaf out, and I was shipped a new one at the next planting time. The trees are very healthy looking and I'm excited for next spring, thinking I should have a few cherries then. I would buy my next trees from Stark brothers.

cherry
the Cherry trees have put out some leaves this spring. One died back a bit but is still alive and does have some leaves so I know it survived. They did not grow much and I don't expect to get any fruit this year. I would have expected them to grow a bit more last year as we fertilized and watered routinely. Hopefully they will take off this year. Will update later this summer.

A bit disappointed
Results were mixed. The sweet cherry tree lived, and the tart variety did not make it through the winter. Will try again. All other stark trees look fantastic.
