Luther Burbank (1849-1926), was an American plant breeder with over 50 years experience developing renowned plant varieties — many of which are still used today.
Heralded as a pioneer in agricultural science, Burbank is responsible for varieties like the popular Burbank™ July Elberta Peach and the heat-tolerant Santa Rosa Plum. Burbank practiced methods of grafting and natural plant breeding (through cross-pollination and selection) to develop his highly regarded varieties. His endeavors included fruit trees, nut trees, and berry plants, as well as several types of vegetable plants and ornamentals.
These outstanding varieties were developed by the famed plant wizard, Luther Burbank.
