Sour Cherry Trees
Sour Cherry Trees Buyer's Guide
Also called pie cherry trees, sour cherry trees
Sour cherry trees (Prunus cerasus) are also called pie or tart cherry trees because of the tangy fruit they produce. While you won’t eat them right off the tree, sour cherries are the perfect choice for cooking and baking. Most sour cherry trees are self-pollinating but produce larger harvests when planted with another variety. When planted in well-drained soil, they are relatively easy to grow. Sour cherry trees are usually smaller in size than their sweet cousins. Dwarf varieties are excellent options for small-space growing.
