Recommended Spacing

We recommend spacing these plants 12" apart to ensure room for growth.

how do they handle heat and humidity?
DeeDee on May 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Dee Dee,
I live in far northern MN with very long days and cold outside temps. I am using these strawberries in hanging gutters in my greenhouse as part of an experiment with high latitude ag research. They do very well in that condition. High day temps, cooler night temps, day temps will reach 95 before the exhaust fan kicks in, nights are in the 60s. Humidity around 80%. They will continue to produce in those circumstances till the beginning of Oct, here when it has already frosted outside. Lower in the state around latitude 45 deg, they do well outside for growers, Hope this helped.
What does "vigorous day-neutral plants" mean?
Pam B on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: "Vigorous" means they grow quickly and "day neutral" is just another name for everbearing, meaning they flower and fruit throughout summer and into fall instead of putting out all their fruit in June the way June-bearing strawberry plants do.
Can tribute be cloned?
pbpate on Dec 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Do you mean will it produce runners that can be cut and planted to create new plants? If so, the answer is yes. To plant the runners, I gently lift the roots of the runner out and plant it in a small pot. Once it's established in the pot, I cut the part of the runner connecting it to the original plant and plant the potted runner in the ground.
What are the main differences between Tristar and tribute strawberries. In the past we planted one or the other and we had excellent berries all summer into late fall but can`t remember which variety is was?
Fred I on May 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We have grown Tribute for years, so thought that we would try Tristar also.
Tristar was slower to establish, had fewer berries and a large core. I will not plant they again here in northern Colorado
How far are these spaced? I have a 7
X 12 foot space to fill.
Vina M on May 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As stated in the Size & Spacing characteristics, "We recommend spacing these plants 12" apart to ensure room for growth." They can be planted closer, but, with their mature size in mind, the plants are easier to maintain with their ideal spacing.
How many strawberry plants come in the 4" Stark pot?
Kerry M on Dec 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. There is one plant per pot, which will produce fruit the first year and will send out runners that turn into many free plants!

Tribute Strawberry Keeps Producing
We tried all of the everbearing strawberries. Tribute Strawberry is by far the best of all, best growth, production, and especially flavor, with really no comparison to the others. We live in Utah at about 3500 foot elevation and have hot dry summers. We grow organically, and Tribute has the best size of all everbearing strawberries we tried. Tribute is really dependable and sends out few runners. We pick strawberries almost every day. Tribute starts bearing early and keeps going right up until the first winter freeze. Then we lift the plants and put them in heavy duty gallon zip bags and refrigerate plants over the winter, before planting them out again in the spring. We don't grow any other strawberries. We tried Tribute strawberry in raised garden beds, in irrigated rows, but eventually had trouble with weeds and some berries going bad when they touch the ground. Then we used various strawberry towers, plastic and ceramic, and then various sizes of pots stacked, and now we use large individual seven gallon pots, each containing 5 to 7 plants, organic fertilizer, compost, and peat moss with daily drip irrigation. Wow, we get a fabulous continuous crop of the best tasting strawberries ever.

Bountiful production
Gave me a continuous supply of berries over the last two summers. Starts fruiting early and lasts all summer long. Berries are not overly large, but are shapely and very sweet. I don't like varieties that get large and "mutant" shaped. They propagate aggressively so a few plants go a long way.

A hardy, dependable and tough winner of a strawberry.
We ordered 50 plants, bare root and they are doing beautifully, all 50 of them. We have some from last year that have bloomed and have berries on them, of course not ripe yet but will be soon. We live in SE Ohio and they are performing beautifully. My daughter lives north of Dayton, OH and is in a zone colder than us and has good luck there too. The taste is amazing.

experience with Tribute Strawberries
This is the first year for these plants and it was a very dry late spring and early summer. The plants survived the weather with a little watering. All plants are now generating a ton of runners that root aggressively. Just looking at the plants suggests their robustness. The stocks of leaves are rather high but do not bend over or indicate in any way a lack of robustness. I will probably add to this review after we get berries next spring.

Tribute Strawberry
Nice firm berry with a great taste. Good crop in June with moderate production through out the rest of summer clear up to hard freeze. With row cover or hoop I'm sure you could enjoy berries through the winter. Located in southern Ill.
