Loved by chefs for their sweet strawberry flavor, Tristar strawberries are also beautiful plants. Their attractive, notched leaves, white flowers and jewel-toned berries make them the best strawberry for hanging baskets. Easy-care plants are medium height and disease resistant. These plants are also day-neutral, which means a heavy crop in early spring, lighter crops in hot summer weather, and increased size berries in fall. Cold-hardy. Self-pollinating.

What's the benefit of getting the pot vs. the plants?
Heather G on May 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have to admit, my tree did not make it the first year, but Stark Bros. was amazing with replacement. I did not even have to have an invoice or anything. They had all my records and shipped another with no problem. Wonderful customer service.
I heard that pruning flowers off young plants helps them grow healthier roots faster and that the later crop will yield larger berries. Is there any truth to this?
Joerusche on Sep 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. There is a great deal of truth to that. When you pinch off flowers, you direct all of the plant's energy to growing the root system. The bigger and stronger the root system is, the bigger your fruit will be, and you will also have more of it.
Will these strawberry plants produce berries the first summer I plant them? Or the second? Thanks :)
Kelly S on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Kelly,

These plants will definitely produce the first year! Being everbearing, they will produce fruit as soon as the plant is large/healthy enough to. I found that my first few fruits were few and on the small side, but as the plant grew over the course of the summer, the fruits became more numerous and larger.
I'd like to try my hand at planting strawberries in a pallet. I'd rather not go with bare root as I'd like to have berries quickly! If I go with the 4" pot...can they be transplanted into the pallet?
April P on Mar 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I think they can. They will take a little time to adjust to the root disturbance, but they should do fine.
I planted bare roots in holes in 5 gallon buckets. The bottom was where I watered into and it wicced up. I had strawberries all summer. They were not big, but they were sweet. I was pleased!
how deep of a root system or how deep does my growth container need to be for Tristar plants oh by the way for hydroponic gardening?
fruit Man on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mine are planted in a raised bed but they have a fairly shallow root system - 6 to 8 inches should be adequate - I've not done hydroponic gardening . . .
Is this variety good for jams and freezing?
Linda R on Nov 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, indeed. This is one of the best-tasting strawberries available, and has a lower water content that some other varieties, making it an excellent choice for jams/preserves and freezing.
I don't have a space in my yard that gets full sun all day. Will they still grow and bear fruit?
Laurie H on Aug 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Strawberries need at least 6 hours of full sun a day to produce a decent crop. Depending upon how shady your yard is, you may get some berries/they may be small. If you have a sunny space but just don't have ground to plant them in, strawberries grow beautifully in containers. :-)
the flowers on my tristar strawberries are blue why is this?
Gene C on Jun 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's possible your soil could be TOO acidic. Strawberries like a soil pH of 5.5 to 6.5, which is slightly acidic. We suggest you do a soil test to see what you have. If the pH is higher than 6.5, sprinkle a little granulated lime on your soil, wait a few weeks and test the soil again.

Everbearing strawberries
I am so happy I bought these strawberries! I was hesitant not believing they could produce good strawberries all season but they were great! They were very sweet, juicy berries that just kept coming and coming! I was thrilled! They have not started producing yet this season but the plants all came back and have lots of blossoms so I have high hopes for another great summer! I would recommend them with my limited experience.

Delicious strawberry!
This is my first Spring and Summer growing strawberries, and in general, this is my first time ever growing strawberries. I did some research and found that the Tristar Strawberry variety was favored by chefs and gardeners, so I thought I'd give them a try and bought a bundle from Stark Bros. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the Tristar Strawberries! I bought a bundle of 25 roots and crowns in late March 2016 and I received three extra roots, which was a plus. I planted then in ten gallon Smart Pot containers since I heard that this variety does well in containers and hanging baskets. The plants formed leaves and blooms within just two weeks after planting and by the third week they already had strawberries forming. The blooms are very beautiful and have an amazing fragrance reminiscent of vanilla. By week seven I had a few ripe strawberries and they were delicious! They are about the size of a quarter and are very sweet and have a rich strawberry flavor. The flavor is way better than store bought strawberries without a doubt! I personally would wait until the Tristar strawberries turn a deep (dark) Crimson red before picking and harvesting. This is when they are the most flavorful. I plan on buying more Tristar strawberries from Stark Bros so I can hang some in baskets on my porch this Summer. Looking forward to harvesting more of these delicious strawberries. They are my new favorites.

Prolific and Sweet
We received bare roots last year. Over the summer, all of the plants grew from the bare roots (I've bought bare roots from local discount stores that didn't sprout), and produced a few berries. This year, the plants started producing in March, and are consistently producing loads of juicy, sweet berries. I like this variety so much I plan to buy more.

Awesome sweet season long strawberries
It is so fun to have strawberries all season long to put on top of your ice cream, include in pies and jams, etc. The flavor is good and the plants are hardy & prolific. The only drawback (and why I only gave them 4 stars) is that they are very tiny. Many of them I pick get tossed over the fence for the chickens to enjoy as they are really too small to mess with. Don't purchase these if you are looking for LARGE season lasting strawberries. Many of mine that ripen are misshapen as well. I think their sweet flavor and ability to bear all summer up to the first frost outweighs the fact they are tiny berries. Your expectations might need to be adjusted a bit before you purchase these strawberries.

Sweet Berries All Summer Long
These strawberries are easy to cultivate, and they continued to produce more sweet, juicy berries into the early fall. My sister has had equal success growing these strawberries in the sandy soil of central Oregon as we have had here in eastern Pennsylvania.

What I think of Tristar
When they say everbearing ,that's what they are. I'ce grown Tristars before and pick strawberries clear into autumn. They are really great. My little grandson just loves them.

They should name these EASY everbearing
This was my first Tristar Everbearing Strawberry and it came on much later than the older strawberries, but when they came on . . . they were HUGE. I anticipate that next season I'll have big luscious berries all season long and I can't wait. Hope to order more of these.
