Nectarine Trees

Nectarine Trees Buyer's Guide

You’ll love having nectarines from your own nectarine tree. This fruit can be found in most grocery stores, but once you’ve tasted fresh nectarines at their peak, you’ll only want them homegrown. Our selection of nectarine trees will produce fruit with smooth, firm skin and sweet, juicy flesh. You can eat them right off the tree or freeze or can them for later. Try substituting nectarines for peaches; they are similar in many ways, but their distinctive flavor will offer a new spin on any recipe. And they’re healthy — nectarines are low in calories and are packed with numerous antioxidants, nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

To ensure your growing success and satisfaction, there are a few things to consider when you buy a nectarine tree.

Zone Compatibility

Your climate plays an important role in whether a nectarine tree will produce fruit or even survive. Before ordering a tree, make sure its recommended hardiness zone range includes your area.

Proper Pollination

All of our nectarine trees are self-pollinating, making them ideal for growers who have limited outdoor space and cannot plant a second variety for pollination. If yard space is not an issue for you, we always recommend planting more than one variety for optimum fruit production.

Mature Tree Size

Make sure you pick the right size for your space. When our nectarine trees mature, they will be one of two sizes:

  • Dwarf nectarine trees mature to be about 8-10' tall and wide. Even though they are smaller, they produce an abundance of full-size fruit.
  • Standard nectarine trees mature to be about 12-15' tall and 15' wide. They are perfect if you have a large space or want a multi-purpose shade tree.
