Description

The Wilton’s® Red Jonaprince Apple tree is a reliable producer of large, beautiful, red apples!

Believed to have derived from a mutant Jonagold (which is a cross between a Jonathan and a Golden Delicious), the Red Jonaprince produces large, crisp, juicy apples. The exceptional eating quality of the fruit makes this apple tree a staple in European and American orchards.

Red Jonaprince will supply you with a nice crop of nearly solid, deep red apples – perfect for fresh eating and baking. The flavor is described as having a nice balance of sweetness and acidity – sweeter than your typical Jonagold. Often described as a winter apple since it benefits from a time in storage before eating.

This variety blooms mid-season and benefits from having a pollinator nearby. The brilliant red coloring on the fruit comes early. Wilton’s® Red Jonaprince apples ripen in early September, about one month earlier than Jonagold.

Harvest stores and ships well, unlike most early-season apples. These apple trees have a high-yield potential, so thinning is encouraged to prevent biennial bearing.
