Probably brown rot (a common fungal issue for peach trees growing in humid areas). This article should help: http://www.starkbros.com/growing-guide/article/all-about-brown-rot
I am entering my second winter with 2 Reliance peach trees - last winter was
harsh and both trees died back to main stem - I trimmed them and they put out new branches and look good going into this winter - I would say that I am testing it at zone 4a hardiness zone - would limit it to 4b & warmer.
I can't speak to peach production yet

Do you have any suggestions?
So far I have not successfully kept those critters out of my fruit trees. The love peaches and apples. I have thought of covering trees with some sort of net, but i think that would only deter birds.
Sorry I cannot provde a guaranteed solution.
The wind is not a problem as long as you reduce the amount of fruit on each branch. I tend to not remove enough and branches break regularly. I keep trying all kinds of tricks including bracing branches with 2X4's
We appreciate you reaching out to us. Because weather and soil conditions vary so much from year to year and even within your zone, it's best to think of your planting time as a range of favorable conditions instead of an exact time.
You can plant new plants and trees:
1) when the ground is not frozen.
2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF.
3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
We appreciate you reaching out to us. You can find the years-to-bear information in the Characteristics section, near the top of the page, underneath the description. This tree takes 2-4 years to bear.

You need to be sure that your soil drains well. If not , the roots will sit in water and they will die. I have had that happen too many times here in AR. No problem with that in WY. Moving to KS soon and hoping for much better results there.
Yes, they are.
To replace a Reliance Peach Tree that did not make it through the winter.
sounded the best for my home
Had 8 of these before the tornado went through and they were delicious. Got them from Starkbros too.
I wanted to try it.
