5 Tips to Help Your Plants Thrive this Summer
As summer heats up it takes a toll on all of us, and our plants are no exception. It’s important to take the time to check on your new plants and trees. As they grow, you may notice some extra care is required.
You’ll want to make sure new plants are growing properly and getting enough water and nutrients. In addition, be on the lookout for pests and disease that require treatment.

Here are tips and products that will help your trees and plants thrive through the growing season.
Watering
Newly planted trees require a gallon of water every 7 days or so during a normal growing season. The trees water intake will naturally increase as the tree puts on new leaves in the summer. Here are tools to help ensure your plants & trees are receiving enough water.
Fertilizing
Fruit trees and berry plants require well-balanced nutrition with essential macro and micro nutrients, especially when getting established and their fruit-bearing/sustaining years. Be sure to test your soil, and shop for the soil additives your plants need to be successful.
Structure & Pruning
Ensure your tree is properly staked and protected while it’s young. During the growing season, apply limb spreaders to encourage proper growth and airflow - it’s also important to keep suckers and unwanted growth pruned.
Disease
Disease can rear its ugly head when you least expect it. Preventing and controlling diseases on your fruit trees is every bit as critical as feeding and watering, especially in locations that experience a cool, wet spring. Treating and controlling disease can ultimately save your crop!
Pests
We always suggest that you spray your trees and plants while dormant, to help prevent pest issues. While that keeps most at bay, sometimes you still will need to tackle some during the growing season. It’s good to have seasonal sprays and netting on hand when you need them most!
