O'Neal Blueberry Plant
Description
One of our best-tasting varieties. Enjoy the sweet goodness of fresh blueberries from your own plants — even during the dog days of summer. Requires mulch in winter. Introduced in 1987. Heat-tolerant. Ripens in June. Self-pollinating, but will yield larger crops if pollinated with another Southern Highbush like Misty.

Questions & Answers
If you buy the small container they are about 4-5 inches tall. You would be better off buying the one gallon size. They are further along and more than a foot tall, and they cost more. My four plants are a year old and about 18 inches tall.
Hi Marilyn, This is a great question. The O'Neal blueberry turns a brilliant red before falling in colder climates and is known to remain green in mild winters. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, remember that we're here for you. Have a great day!
High bush blueberries can withstand extreme cold. I grew mine in half whiskey barrels in Idaho with no problems.
Yes. Mixture of pine bark fines, sphagnum peat moss and a little perlite.
Soil beds of 8 to 12 inches high and 2 to 5 feet wide work well for most blueberry bushes. Ideally, mounds should be set about eight feet apart to allow for root spreading and above-ground maintenance.
Unfortunately we do not have any information on what is or is not compatible in the growing areas internationally.
Yes I like fall planting to jump start spring growth

We raise our trees and plants as organically as we can. We do spray when necessary - primarily with biological/organic agents - to keep pests and diseases at bay in order to save a threatened crop, but you may raise the tree or plant as organically as you wish. Stark Bro’s does not knowingly grow or offer genetically engineered plants or trees (GMOs).
Right now 5/2/25 they are 1/4" or 6mm.
