Questions & Answers
I usually wait until the spring and then I prune back the blueberry plant. That way I can get rid of any limbs that may have been affected by the winter. I don't cut a lot off...just the dead limbs.
I live In SoCal and did the same thing with container growing and then transplanting to a full time home in the soil of my garden area. I planted some in part sun/shade and some in full sun. The full sun ones needed lots more water and their foliage was not a lush. They also suffered from a bit of transplant shock but most recovered within 2 weeks of transplant. The part sun/part shade blueberries are doing very well and have produced a lot of lush foliage and yummy blueberries.
I also spaced mine about 3 feet apart, but I did that with the intent that they would form a hedge when they grew to full mature size. If you want more space between the plants I'd suggest planting further apart, 4-8 feet.
I also amended the soil with a lot of acidifier, which really helped the blueberries as the natural soil acidity in my area is about 7-8. They typically like soil around pH of 4-5, which is more acidic than a neutral soil pH of 7.0.
This may be one of the "best" for zone 10b, but I'm not sure if it is the sweetest.
I am in zone 10a and pushed my envelope to zone 9 blueberries. That opened the possibility of planting Jubilee as well. These are, in my opinion, a little sweeter. I also planted some Misty because they help with pollination even if most of these are self-pollinating. In my experience, my plants have done better with at least one Misty in their midst. If you're only planting one plant, or planting in a pot, the Sunshine should be safe. If you're planting in a planter or more than one pot, try adding the Misty (and maybe a Jubilee) and I think you'd be happy. They love acidic soil also, so do a pH test. Water the roots + acidic soil = happy blueberries. Hope this helps.
We appreciate you reaching out to us. We prefer to use more earth friendly, softer chemicals like biological fungicides and insecticides, horticultural oil, insecticidal soap, and insect growth regulators. This is not to say we would never use a neonic if we had a problem that required its use, but as a general rule, I would say hardy ever.

No, this is not considered a dwarf sized shrub. When your Sunshine Blue Blueberry matures, it will be approximately 3 - 4' tall x 3 - 4' wide.
I would use Miracle Grow with about 1/3 fine pine bark plus something to make the soil a little on the acid side
Yes as any variety will help yeild a larger crop.
I think that would be perfect for you Sunshine Blue Blueberries. Just remember they will not get very tall, but they will probably bush out. I would also add pine needles as a mulch or pine bark since they like the acid soil.
I’m sure lower ph is great but I have ph 7-9 where I am at and they survived. I have new shoots coming up from the ground next to one bush. I like to feed them worm tea which is soil gold. It helps lower your ph. I’ve had mine a few years. I just transplanted mine this year and it was hardy enough to survive.
We appreciate you reaching out to us. Because weather and soil conditions vary so much from year to year and even within your zone, it's best to think of your planting time as a range of favorable conditions instead of an exact time.
You can plant new plants and trees:
1) when the ground is not frozen.
2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF.
3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.
