We had some grapes that would grow but they had seeds and weird texture. Hope to get better experience with the 3 verieties that we just ordered.

I chose this because I wanted concord grapes and a good price with variety. I grew up with grapes but this is my first venture with them.

Your collections offer the best price per each grape vine.

I originally wanted Concord Grapes, but I thought it might be fun to have a variety, especially not knowing which ones might actually work better in my environment.
T P on Jun 10, 2018
I wanted seedless, three vines, and one of them had to be Concord. This order fit the bill. I hope they all taste delicious and make a shady trellis to sit under in the backyard.
Cynthia K on May 7, 2017
I am having to replace some grape vines that are 40 years old. These are the same type that we had for 40 years and they have done well at our location. Although this is the first time that we are trying the seedless grapes.

Which produces the sweetest grape?
Rickigirl on Apr 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Red Canadice hands down.
Are these bare root plants?
John E on Jun 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are.
i live in zone 6 and have lots of clay in yard. does any of your grapes can grow in clay conditions ?
papbob on Apr 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: My property has clay everywhere! I was fearful that the grapes would not make it with me adding soil to the ground. I planted my grapevines in large planters. So far three out of the four grapevines have survived. I am hoping to see an actual grape this year. I hope this helps, good luck!
Are these varieties sweet?
Constance C on Apr 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Not sure. Most did not survive.
How long after planting bare root vines does it usually take before seeing any sign of life? I am at 14 days now and still have 3 brown sticks with zero signs of life...?
Kevin B on May 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate you reaching out to us. It can take 4-6 weeks before your vines awake. Try doing a scratch test on the stem of one of your plants. Just gently scratch it with your thumb nail, If it reveals green, white or yellow cambium it is alive and healthy, if they are brown we need to look at replacing them.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
Will these vines do well on a south-facing concrete wall (zone 7a)?
Steve S on Apr 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Zone-wise, this collection is well-suited to where you're located. As far as the exposure, be sure your support system is 3' away from the wall to avoid 1) too much absorptive heat and 2) poor air circulation.
What is a four lateral system?
Ron M on Feb 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is a system of training grape vines to a two-wire trellis. You train the main stem to encourage four lateral-growing vines; two in each direction (about 24 inches apart). Think of it as a capital letter T with an additional line through the middle. It is also called the 'kniffin system' if you are hoping to research the benefits of the technique.
What is Brown Rot Disease? One reviewer said that these grapes are prone to it.

poor disease resistance
These varieties have poor resistance to Brown Rot. This disease has destroyed most of my grape clusters. I have used an organic spray program. I am actually going to rip these out and replace them with varieties that are more resistant to this disease.
The plants are vigorous and the starts that arrived were healthy.

Arrived healthy and grew fine - until they didn't.
They are dying now, a year later. My soil is very clay/sand and acidic and I am working to amend it. Can't blame Stark. They started out fine.

2nd year strong
The vines were planted last year, and had some good growth. We are starting the second year and the plants are coming out of winter very strong. We are looking for some nice growth this season, and have confidence in this because the plants came from a very established and quality company

Very satisfied!
The grape vines arrived in great condition with at least pencil thick trunks. I planted them in February of 2016 and they reached the top of my pergola in their first season, with training of course. This year they are all growing well and fruiting. As expected, there's not a lot of grapes this year on the reliance and marquis, but the concord is really outperforming my expectations in both vine growth and fruiting. I can't wait to try the grapes when they're ripe. I'd recommend the Stark Bro's bare root grapes to anyone (and I have). FYI, Im in Norfolk VA (8A).

First year and they are all winners!
I was astounded to see all the clusters of grapes on these vines for their first year. They are growing well and so far have withstood the heat and humidity of TN.
