Reliable and productive. Precocious tree produces pleasant dessert apples with a red-striped skin tinged with yellow. Flesh is firm and juicy, perfect for fresh eating, cooking and baking. Lively flavor makes for excellent cider. Good keeper in proper storage. Antique variety, originates from Pennsylvania, circa 1837. Cold-hardy. Ripens in September.
