Summer Delight Aprium® Tree
Description
About The Summer Delight Aprium® Tree
A late-ripening apricot-plum hybrid with great flavor!
Another successful Floyd Zaiger hybrid, the Summer Delight Aprium® tree is becoming popular with backyard growers and homesteaders. It is a reliable bearer of juicy, yellow-fleshed, freestone fruit that ripens later than other apriums.
Summer Delight blooms in April and sets fruit in late July into August. These apriums stay golden in color when ripe, with little to no blushing. The firm fruit has a nice sweet-to-acid balance, making them versatile for baking, canning, and fresh eating. A true apricot flavor with just a hint of plum.
How to Grow Summer Delight Apriums
This apricot-plum hybrid tree is a consistent bloomer and producer. The Summer Delight Aprium tree thrives in warm climates and only requires a minimum of 500 or so chill hours. Plant in a location where the aprium is sheltered from the wind but still gets full sun. In very hot areas, afternoon shade is okay. This aprium is not bothered much by pests and diseases, but a regular dormant spray is recommended.

Unfortunatley you can not reserve a tree until we know if it will be available. I do suggest signing up for the product notifications so you are alerted when it does come back into stock.
Thank you for your question. First, do a soil test to check the pH and see which nutrients it might be missing. Then fertilize accordingly. Is the tree getting at least 6 hours of full sun? There are other reasons a tree might not be bearing fruit as you expect. This article details some basic fruit tree requirements for fruit production.

The Moorpark, Tilton and Harglow are all late variaties.
In many cases, you may still want to plant pollinating partners to increase the size of your crops, but with self-pollinating varieties doing so is optional. You'll get fruit with only one plant!
We appreciate you reaching out to us. You can find the years-to-bear information in the Characteristics section, near the top of the page, underneath the description. This tree takes 2-5 years to bear.

500 chill hours are recommended according to the website.
At this time we do not offer it in a dwarf. I recommend checking back in the spring for other sizes that become available.
Apricot trees are generally considered to be self-fruitful; however, many home orchards will benefit from having more than one variety of apricot near by. Since apricots are generally considered self-fruitful there is very little information about their compatibility with apriums in terms of their s-alleles (these are the reproductive alleles found in fruit trees). It will not cross pollinate with a plum tree atn all to the best of our knowledge.
