Why did you choose this?

A latter dropping pear, pollination works with my other pear trees

Love pears!

Great late fall pear providing fruit beyond Barlett pear timeframe. Great in salads and baked

I can't beat this price and we love this company!

Are there pear varieties that grow in containers?

Not that I know, Drwaf varieties might work out in containers but the size of the container will make a difference: the larger the better but watering will have to be done often and the plants should be transplanted the the orchard eventually.

Is there a dwarf variety for Anjou pear trees?

The term "dwarf" only refers to size. 'Anjou' is the variety, which you can get in standard, semi-dwarf and dwarf sizes. Right now all we have is the standard size but the dwarf size will be available again in the fall.

Would moonglow pears be a good pollinator for Anjou?

Yes, there is enough overlap in their respective bloom times for pollination to occur.

Are anjou the same as D'anjou?

Yes, they are the same. Common usage over the years has dropped the "D'" from the name.

Will Anjou and Bartlett cross pollinate?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Yes these two varieties will cross pollinate.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Like to get an Anjou pear tree. I have a Red Max Bartlett, Bosc, and Colette, would the Anjou pollenate ok ??

I have a two Bartlett pears near my Anjou and they all bloomed at the same time here in Alabama, and the Bartlett is a recommended pollinator for the Anjou. So, the answer is yes.

I'm interested in a dwarf Anjou. I would like the fastest producing. I have looked at the different types offered. What would you recommend for the fastest producing and approximately how long before the first fruits?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. You can find the years-to-bear information in the Characteristics section, near the top of the page, underneath the description. This tree takes 4-6 years to bear.

Our trees are 2 years old when shipped so they will need a few years to get established.

is the Anjou pear spur-bearing?

All my pear trees have their new growth go straight up near the main trunk. I guess you can call that spurs II have been trying to open the middle by cutting most of that new growth and training the rest to grow out rather than in.

Can these trees be espalier, pros and cons?

Short answer is: yes. You can espalier practically any fruit tree, including this tree. The dwarf size is the easiest to espalier. Is this a canning pear for preserves?

Yes, Anjou pears would be good for canning, freezing or for making pear butter using pears instead of apples. Our favorite for eating fresh.

Missouri Tough
I purchased a three pear trees last year during the spring sale. They all survived the crazy Missouri weather that included a couple freak hail storms this spring. They are all looking good and have a lot of new growth for this year.
