Why did you choose this?

I have always wanted a small orchard but don't have the space for multiple tree's. I am experimenting this year with the grafted trees. This is the first of the three I have picked out to plant in…

Want to try a multi-grafted fruit tree.

Because I get two for 1 and space is becoming limited.

We like pears and they looked good. i like the idea of getting 2 types of pears off the same tree.

My 2 in 1 pear came with only 1 central leader instead of 2.Was this a mistake in shipping?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. This is a common misconception with 2n1 varieties. One variety is grafted at the bottom to the rootstock and the second is grafted near the top. It will remain one central tree until it branches out and starts fruiting. It is very important that you not do any pruning until after the tree has fruited.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Does this come with a single or double main leader? I'm interested in growing it as a 4 tier espalier. (as well as the Bartlett/Crimson Red combo). Would these trees allow me to do that?

Thank you for your question. The multi-graft trees will have two central leaders as each variety will be on its own trunk. If you wish each variety to fruit, then you'll need to keep both central leaders. I hope this helps!

Does anyone have a picture of a mature 2-in-1 Giant Asian and Barletta pear tree?measurements would be appreciated as well. We have a small yard and we want to make sure it fits.

They should mature to be 18 - 20' tall x 12 - 13' wide.

How come they pollinate each other? One is Asian and the other is European?

They will pollinate one another because they are of the same species, just different varieties, i.e., they are still both pears with a similar bloom time.

What's the required chill hours for
Stark® Custom Graft® 2-N-1 European/Asian Pear?

Hi Pete, this tree will require at lest 700-800 chill hours.

I see from previous questions both Anjou and Bartlett pears mentioned, which variety is on this year's 2022 tree? And what variety of Asian pear? This does not seem to be listed anywhere...

You can choose between the Bartlett and Starking Hardy Giant Asian, or the Bartlett and New Century.

Will this grow & bear fruit in container?

You can grow almost anything in a container! This excellent article will answer your questions and provide good advice. Please see "Growing Fruit Trees in Containers" //www.starkbros.com/growing-guide/article/fruit-trees-in-containers-pt1

Is this variety disease resistant?

This tree is more resistant to issues like leaf spot; however, it may still have some susceptibility to other issues like fire blight, since the Anjou variety that is grafted onto this tree is not particularly resistant.

I bought one of this 2-N-1 tree two years ago and it grew great. Unfortunately my husband cut it when he mowed the lawn. The next year there are leaves came out just above the ground. Not sure the leaves are above or below the grafted point. Just wondering what variety will grow? Or nether of them. Thanks!

Unfortunatley we would not know the variety as we would not have the rootstock information.

I have growth below the white mark on the tree. Should that be trimmed off?

I am sorry to hear that this has happened. Please email Info@starkbros.com with pictures and a brief description so we can look into this for you.

The little pear tree that could
Pear tree took to its planting location very well (unlike an earlier attempt at planting a peach tree in the same location). The tree looked healthy throughout the grow season and is showing signs that it will really take off next year. Looking forward to harvesting both varieties in a couple of years

Great so far
Arrived healthy, this is the second growing season. Zone 8A First full year this tree added four feet in height. Quite a few initial trunk leaves. Minimal trunk branching. Second year so far has seen about 18" of additional added height with minimal branch growth but the existing branches have thickened considerably. I purchased a separate kind of tree for pollination and it's growing equally well.

Looking great!
This is only our 2nd summer with the 2 in 1 pear tree and it has filled out beautifully! It's very healthy, and we will actually have about 5 pears to enjoy at the end of summer.

2-1 pear tree
I have potted it up just like I always do for a bareroot tree. Usually they will double in size by the end of the 1st year and I plant the tree in permanent place. This tree has not grown . Tree trunk is maybe a 1/4" thicker. Increased maybe 4" taller. Tree showes no signs of disease. Same potting tree mix I have always had good luck with. Tree has had a regular water schedule. Plenty of sun. All your other trees have grown with the same care.

Not labeled, one variety is weaker.
The tree came without labels on individual varieties so I don't know which part of the tree is what variety. Lower variety came with only one branch coming out and new ones haven't emerged after 1 year in ground. Otherwise it's growing healthy.
