Size & Spacing

Mature Size

When your tree matures, it will be approximately 18 - 20' tall x 12 - 13' wide.

Recommended Spacing

We recommend spacing these trees 18 - 20' apart to ensure room for growth.

Pollination

This variety is self pollinating.

In many cases, you may still want to plant pollinating partners to increase the size of your crops, but with self-pollinating varieties doing so is optional. You'll get fruit with only one plant!

I Have never tried a multi-fruit grafted tree before so this looked like a good one to try. I have heard the ones with 4-5 varieties rarely do well and one or two of the varieties will end up being dominant and the others die off.

I love Asian pears and better to buy a 2-in-1 self pollinator than two separate pear trees with the space I have.
MATT M on Jan 12, 2017
Wanted pears, but Bartlett Pear trees are notoriously weak, so opted for this pairing instead.

Does this come with a single or double main leader? I'm interested in growing it as a 4 tier espalier. (as well as the Bartlett/Crimson Red combo). Would these trees allow me to do that?
Bob on Jan 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. The multi-graft trees will have two central leaders as each variety will be on its own trunk. If you wish each variety to fruit, then you'll need to keep both central leaders. I hope this helps!
My 2 in 1 pear came with only 1 central leader instead of 2.Was this a mistake in shipping?
Rick S on Jan 18, 2021
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate you reaching out to us. This is a common misconception with 2n1 varieties. One variety is grafted at the bottom to the rootstock and the second is grafted near the top. It will remain one central tree until it branches out and starts fruiting. It is very important that you not do any pruning until after the tree has fruited.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
How come they pollinate each other? One is Asian and the other is European?
Salmi on Dec 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They will pollinate one another because they are of the same species, just different varieties, i.e., they are still both pears with a similar bloom time.
Will this grow & bear fruit in container?
Amelia B on Dec 15, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You can grow almost anything in a container! This excellent article will answer your questions and provide good advice. Please see "Growing Fruit Trees in Containers" //www.starkbros.com/growing-guide/article/fruit-trees-in-containers-pt1
If I order this time, its delivery is by Dec.5, it is already cold in our place, would it survive?
Raymonette B on Aug 5, 2020
BEST ANSWER: If you would like us to ship your order at a different time, please contact our Customer Support Team at 800.325.4180. We would be glad to help you arrange what suits you and your growing zone best.
Hello, I???m very interested in growing an Asian pear tree. Can I grow a European pear tree and Asian pear tree separately to pollinate?
Sherry S on Jul 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We appreciate you reaching out to us. In most cases the Bartlett pear will pollinate an Asian pear.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
Is this variety disease resistant?
Bubbles L on Jan 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This tree is more resistant to issues like leaf spot; however, it may still have some susceptibility to other issues like fire blight, since the Anjou variety that is grafted onto this tree is not particularly resistant.
Does anyone have a picture of a mature 2-in-1 Giant Asian and Barletta pear tree?measurements would be appreciated as well. We have a small yard and we want to make sure it fits.

Looking great!
This is only our 2nd summer with the 2 in 1 pear tree and it has filled out beautifully! It's very healthy, and we will actually have about 5 pears to enjoy at the end of summer.
