Quince Trees

Quince trees (Cydonia oblonga) are native to parts of Eastern Europe and Asia and are enjoyed both for their ornamental beauty and the cooking qualities of the fragrant fruit. These quince trees are not to be confused with flowering quince trees, although even fruiting quince trees add ornamental beauty to the landscape. Their blossoms are a delicate white or pink in the spring and are a food source for butterflies and other beneficials in the garden. The unique and edible golden-yellow fruit can be eaten fresh, but, due to its somewhat astringent nature, it is more commonly enjoyed prepared in pies, jellies, and dessert wines where its flesh takes on a bold pink hue. Quince trees thrive in the same regions as most apple and pear trees – and require similar care and maintenance – so if you can grow apple and pear trees, you can grow quince trees in your fruit garden as well!

To ensure your growing success and satisfaction, there are a few things to consider when you buy a quince tree.

Zone Compatibility

Your climate plays an important role in whether a quince tree will produce fruit or even survive. Before ordering a tree, make sure its recommended hardiness zone range includes your area.

Mature Tree Size

Make sure you pick the right size tree for your available space. When our quince trees mature they will be about 12-20' tall and wide.
