Munstead Lavender and Double Knock Out® Rose — A Practical Classic Pairing

The combination works on every level. Both plants want the same conditions: full sun, well-drained soil, and minimal fuss once established. Munstead Lavender’s compact habit, deep purple spikes, and early bloom timing complement the Double Knock Out® Rose’s continuous red blooms beautifully — different flower forms and colors that work together rather than competing. And the lavender does quiet work beyond looking beautiful: its strong fragrance and natural oils deter aphids and other soft-bodied insects that are drawn to roses.

USDA Certified Organic Lavender — Pollinator-Attracting and Pest-Deterring

The three Munstead Lavender plants are USDA Certified Organic, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Munstead is one of the earliest-blooming English lavender varieties, developed in Gertrude Jekyll’s garden, producing deep purple spikes from June onward that attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators while naturally deterring pest insects. Compact at 12–18 inches, it edges beautifully in front of the rose without crowding it.

Double Knock Out® Rose — Continuous Color from Spring Through Frost

The Double Knock Out® Rose needs no introduction to most gardeners — reliably disease-resistant, continuously blooming from spring through the first frost, and requiring no deadheading to keep producing. The rich red double blooms add depth and volume alongside the lavender’s more delicate spike form.
