Exceptional® Lavender

Exceptional® Lavender is a white-blooming sport of Phenomenal® lavender, the newest cultivar in the Phenomenal family from Peace Tree Farm. White lavender is genuinely rare among lavandin hybrids, where purple and deep violet dominate, and Exceptional® delivers that unusual quality with the same disease-resistant, heat-and-humidity-tolerant performance that made Phenomenal® the go-to lavender for difficult growing conditions east of the Rockies. Pure white flower spikes rise above the classic silver-green lavandin foliage from late spring through early summer, attracting bees, butterflies, and beneficial pollinators. Deer resistant, fragrant, and perennial in Zones 5–9. A Lavandula x intermedia variety.

A White-Blooming Sport of Phenomenal® — Rare in the Lavender World

Most lavender varieties bloom in purple, deep violet, or soft lavender tones. White-blooming lavender is genuinely uncommon, and white lavandin — the larger, more heat-tolerant hybrid class — is rarer still. Exceptional® brings that distinctive quality in a plant that carries Phenomenal®'s proven disease resistance and adaptability, making it the white lavender that actually performs in humid summer climates rather than struggling through the conditions that eliminate most lavender varieties.

The Phenomenal Family’s Disease-Resistant Heritage

As a true sport of Phenomenal®, Exceptional® inherits the qualities that made that variety a standout: better resistance to the root and foliar diseases that affect lavender in heat and humidity, genuine heat tolerance through Southern and Midwestern summers, and the vigor that keeps it performing where other lavender varieties fail. For growers who’ve had success with Phenomenal® and want a white-blooming companion with the same reliable character, Exceptional® is the natural choice.

Fragrant White Spikes, Silver-Green Foliage — A Striking Garden Combination

The visual effect is genuinely distinctive: pure white flower spikes rising above the classic silver-green lavandin foliage creates a cool, fresh combination that’s striking in the landscape and particularly beautiful in mixed lavender plantings alongside purple-blooming varieties. Outstanding for cut flowers, dried arrangements, and culinary use where the white blooms add an unexpected visual element.
