Description

Invincibelle Wee White® is the first dwarf Annabelle-type hydrangea ever introduced — a revolutionary compact form of Hydrangea arborescens that delivers the beloved rounded mophead blooms of the Annabelle family in a tidy 1–2.5 foot mound that fits containers, borders, foundation plantings, and small-space gardens where standard arborescens varieties are simply too large. Dense, rounded flower clusters open blush pink and mature to crisp white, blooming continuously on new wood from summer through fall on sturdy stems that hold upright through rain and summer storms. Fragrant. Native to North America. Winner of the 2018 Direct Gardening Association Green Thumb Award. Cold-hardy to -40°F in Zones 3–8.

May be covered by USPP #30,296 or other patents.

The First Dwarf Annabelle-Type — Rounded Mophead Blooms in 1–2.5 Feet

The significance of being the first dwarf Annabelle-type is genuine: Annabelle hydrangeas and their improved descendants like Incrediball® are among the most beloved landscape shrubs in America — reliably cold-hardy, easy to grow, summer-long white blooms on new wood — but their 3–5 foot mature size excludes them from smaller landscapes, containers, and tight foundation plantings. Invincibelle Wee White® brings that entire Annabelle experience to spaces where it has never been accessible before.

Blush Pink to Crisp White — Fragrant and Award-Winning

The blush-pink-to-white color progression adds visual interest beyond the pure white display of standard Annabelle varieties — opening with warm blush tones before maturing to the clean white that makes this hydrangea family so versatile in the landscape. The fragrance is an unusual quality for an arborescens variety — a pleasant addition to the summer garden experience. The 2018 Direct Gardening Association Green Thumb Award reflects the variety’s documented performance across diverse garden situations.

Native, Cold-Hardy to -40°F, Blooms on New Wood

Invincibelle Wee White®'s North American native status means it’s naturally adapted to the range of conditions American home gardeners encounter — and its -40°F cold hardiness through Zone 3 makes it one of the most cold-tolerant hydrangeas available. New wood blooming means pruning in early spring produces vigorous new growth covered in blooms — no old-wood worries, no uncertainty about next year’s flower buds.
