Little Lime® Hydrangea
Description
Little Lime® Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata ‘Jane’) delivers everything that made Limelight one of the most popular hydrangeas ever introduced — the large conical flower heads, the distinctive green-to-pink-to-red color journey from summer through fall, the strong stems that hold blooms upright — in a compact 3–5 foot form that fits residential landscapes, foundation plantings, and container gardens where full-sized Limelight simply won’t scale. The same award-winning, long-season color display in a plant sized for the spaces where most gardeners actually garden. Blooms on new wood, cold-hardy to -40°F, and low-maintenance across Zones 3–8.

Limelight’s Color Journey — Green to Pink to Red — In a Smaller Package
The three-stage color progression is what made Limelight so beloved, and Little Lime® delivers it completely. Blooms emerge lime green in summer — a fresh, distinctive color that works beautifully alongside traditional summer perennials — then transition to soft pink as temperatures cool in late summer, deepening to pink-red tones by fall. That progression means the plant looks intentional and interesting from its first blooms in mid-summer through the last color of the season, rather than peaking briefly and declining.
Strong Stems, No Drooping — Cut Flower Ready
Little Lime®'s strong stems hold the large conical bloom heads upright through summer heat, rain, and wind without the flopping that affects weaker-stemmed hydrangea varieties. That structural reliability makes it as practical for cut flower arrangements — fresh and dried — as it is ornamental in the garden. Cut blooms at any stage of the color journey for arrangements that evolve as they dry.
Blooms on New Wood — Prune in Late Winter
Like Incrediball® and all Hydrangea paniculata varieties, Little Lime® blooms reliably on the current season’s new growth. Prune back hard in late winter or early spring and it responds with vigorous new stems loaded with blooms — no old-wood worries, no bloom-year uncertainty, no winter kill concerns about next year’s flowers.
May be covered by USPP #22,330 or other patents.
