Familiar with variety

This variety is not common in stores. I want to grow it so I can enjoy it's delicious taste again.

Haven't been able to find them in stores in years.

Are Red Fuji and Braeburn acceptable varieties for cross pollination?
I’m interested in adding a Braeburn apple to my apple orchard will it pollinate with any of the ones I already have; chenago strawberry, cinnamon spice, or wine crisp?

Hi Lauren, I'm going to need to do some research on this because I'm finding contradicting information. We are currently working on a project to update our bloom times and this one appears to have changed. I will send you and Megan an email once I get a solid answer on this.

how do I keep plants alive until I can plant?
might be a week or so until my help arrives?

Mother Nature can be so unpredictable. :-) Here is a guide that tells you exactly what to do if you can't plant right away: //www.starkbros.com/growing-guide/article/how-to-delay-planting

Chill hours required for fruit?

This variety shows in the characteristics section it requires 700 chill hours in order t bear fruit.

I have a Braeburn apple tree, planted about 7 years ago, it has never produced , not sure why either?  We have a Honeycrisp apple tree planted enough distance away that has produced; both planted about same time.

It could be that it did not hold on to its blooms long enough for the honey crisp to pollinate it. The Braeburn is an Early- Mid and the Honey crisp is a Mid- late . Although there is a possibility of pollinaiton because of the longer bloom time for the Braeburn it may not have been long enough.

I read elsewhere that braeburn apples are in pollination group 4 which means they are self fertile. Are these a different kind causing them to not be self fertile?

These are not self pollinating and require another tree with similar bloom times in order for them to bear fruit.

Hello, I'm wondering about a braeburn apple tree I bought last spring. It's the only one of 4 different varieties we purchased  that has not broke dormancy  yet here in southern michigan?. Does braeburn usually take longer or should I start looking into a warranty claim?

Each tree is different and it can take longer to break dormancy. We recommend you try a scratch test: //www.starkbros.com/growing-guide/article/how-to-do-a-scratch-test
If that test determines the tree is no longer living and in need of replacement, please contact our Customer Support Team at 800.325.4180. They'd be happy to help.

can i plant a grand gala apple and a braeburn apple tree to get a good pollination for crsisp and sweet apples?

They would have a small window of overlap for pollination but the Braeburn is a tangy variety and the Gala is a sweet variety. However the taste does not change when being pollinated so one would be tangy and one would be sweet.

How long does it take a tree with an advanced root system to produce fruit?

Thriving little Braeburn
I am grateful that Starks indicate the compatible growing zones for each apple. I live in zone 9, but I have found that apples for zone 8 also do well here. I was having difficulty finding a Braeburn apple tree locally, and so was happy to find one at Stark. My little tree has gotten off to a good start and is thriving.

Good Stock With Healthy Leaves and Healthy Wood
We planted this tree at the end of our drought. It was planted in late May or early June. It is staying straight and strong in our high winds. The leaves and wood look healthy. The tree in shape is so far good.

Great Little Apple Tree
First, this is my all-time favorite apple. I was happy to learn that this variety would grow at our new location. The apple trees arrived in good shape and was able to plant the next day.

I followed the instructions that were included in the box and was rewarded with leaves shortly after. Both trees are thriving and doing well, even with all the hot weather.

I was impressed and very happy with my apple tree!

Early Braeburn progress
I planted these 2 Braeburn trees with a Granny Smith tree between them for optimum pollenization in early October. Most of the leaves have fallen for the Pennsylvania winter but the branches are supple so they will survive hopefully. I also put a heavy wire fence around them to keep the deer away. Hope to see growth in the spring.

Had me fooled, but happy now.
Took this variety a little longer to break dormancy compared to the other I bought. Almost gave up on it. After several weeks it finally broke dormancy and is now thriving.

Loving this tree
Bought in early 2022. Arrived in excellent condition. Grew a little last year, a few new branches. Pruned in January of 2023, and it blossomed in early April. The blossoms all feel off after about a week, but wasnt expecting any fruit to set yet since it's still young. It is growing vigorously and full of new branches. Looking excellent. ????
