Wonderful vinous flavor! Vigorous tree bears crops of medium-sized fruit with yellow skin and a deep crimson flush. Flesh is smooth with a piquant taste, often sporting red flecks, which give it a wine-stained appearance. Best used for cooking, cider, and apple wine. Antique variety, originates from England, circa 1832. Cold-hardy. Ripens in early September. Pollinator required: Choose another apple variety. See Recommended Pollinators below.
