Questions & Answers
Will the red delicious pollinate with the honeycrisp?
This is a mid-season blooming apple variety.
Any fruit tree can be susceptible to disease, depending upon the weather conditions and how it's cared for (or not cared for). An apple tree that has some resistance to mildew may suffer severe mildew damage if the temperature is 90º with very high humidity and low winds every day for a long stretch.
While it's not possible to specifically say how much resistance a given tree has to a given disease, under average conditions, Starkrimson® Red Delicious does have some resistance to mildew and fireblight, and is very resistant to cedar apple rust.
Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, the Granny Smith and Starkrimson Red Delicious will pollinate each other.
I can attest that they are COMPLETELY different. I dislike with a passion the grocery store red delicious apples. My tree's apples are absolutely amazing - crisp, sweet, crunchy, juicy. Not mealy like the store! You won't be disappointed. I am such a fan of this apple tree that I have 4 on an in-town lot.
Generally it will take 3-4 years before there is any measurable fruit from the tree provided the tree is well kept and properly fertilized and maintained.
Listed on the product page you will find the charachteristics section which gives you the details of this variety. It has a sweet flavor with a firm texture.
Thank you for your question! The Stark® Golden Delicious Apple Tree is an excellent pollinator for a dwarf Honeycrisp apple tree. Just be sure the trees you're looking at all bloom around the same time and are planted within 50–100 feet of each other for the best pollination results.
