Is this the right fertilizer for a mature peach tree? When we planted our Stark Bro peach tree years ago, we had a box of fertilizer we used yearly. Used it all up last year and no longer have the box...
Joni M on Mar 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Best I've found. I use this in March along with a potassium supplement and don't fertilize again until post harvest and when I use 10-10-10 or 20-20-20.
If I use this product do I have to use calcum or potassium in addition, this will be the second year for my orchard?
Ali ha on Apr 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I only used the fertilizer, but my main goal was to produce a lot of greenery in my apple trees since they were growing slow.
This will be the second growing season for the orchard-in-a-box order we placed last year. We initially used TrePrep with great results. Should we continue to use that or shift to this now that they are somewhat established? My concern is that this is only nitrogen and I'd prefer to use something that was a multi-purpose product. Will this be enough or should I just stick with TrePrep?
Michael on Mar 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'd stick with the Tre-Pep for now. It's more well-rounded for young trees. Once the trees all hit their fruit-bearing years (approximately their third year in the ground), they will take more nitrogen from the soil to support their fruit production cycle and then you may want to consider using Orchard Fertilizer to provide nitrogen (as needed).
How to apply?
Otis W on Apr 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have only applied once since my purchase and had followed instructions by sprinkling on the ground and did so just hours before a gentle rain fell which appeared to dissolve the fertilizer. My trees are 3 years old and still relatively small but they all have bloomed this year and had not before but as I said, they are 3 years old and was hoping they would bloom this year. I will continue to use this product and monitor results but so far so good. Just sprinkled on ground approx. diameter of total tree width (didn't go any further than the branch width), grass is sure growing well around trees!
Will it hurt anything if I apply it a little late? Like right as new growth is starting?
NickD on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it shouldn't hurt anything to apply this fertilizer once new growth has started emerging. Just follow the label and be sure not to make the application after July 1.
Is Orchard fertilizer an organic or non-organic?
Ramesh on Feb 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's just nitrogen granules (derived from urea), but it's not composed of organic matter like leaves or grass cuttings.
This is a very fast acting product. I noticed that I had results in about one week after applying it to my apple trees. Is this normal for all urea nitrogen or just this product in particular?
Ryan E on Jun 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Orchard Fertilizer is a high-nitrogen formula, 45-0-0, that will boost vegetative growth. This is normal.
Would it be better to drill holes along dripline for administering fertilizer to 25 year old Dorothy Wyman crabapple trees?
Mary C on Jun 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That is a very astute question. An older tree can indeed benefit from a "deep-feeding" - there is some risk to damaging the fine feeder roots, however, so it's not advisable to drill too many holes. This fertilizer (Orchard Fertilizer) is very high nitrogen and is really better for younger trees. Your Dorothy Wyman may derive more benefit from using Stark Tre-Pep, a more balanced fertilizer. Whatever the tree, stop fertilizing July 1!
will it burn the grass under the tree?
S A on Apr 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It will if you do not apply it properly. Make sure you broadcast it according to directions. I left a few dents clumps under a pear tree and it burn the grass but it did not everywhere else.
leaves have started to come out, can I still use this product?
john f on Apr 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: we had leaves already coming out and it worked fine. wife even put it on her strawberry plants and did fantastic job
Is it high in nitrogen?
Brad Oakes on Apr 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The NPK numbers are 45-0-0, meaning it is very high in nitrogen.
Is the nitrogen derived from urea or is it ammonia N?
D C on Mar 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This Nitrogen fertilizer is derived from Urea.
What can be used to kill ants on my flowering orange tree?

Stark Orchard Fertilizer: Easy; Effective; Complete
This Spring, 2016, I used Stark Orchard Fertilizer on my 34 fruit trees purchased from Stark from 2012 till 2015. After having read many excellent sites describing the use of fertilizer on fruit trees, I was concerned that overzealous use of fertilizer would cause extreme growth and invite even more codling moths. However, the Stark Orchard Fertilizer bag gave clear instructions on how much to use per size of tree and previous growth. It's mid-season now, and all the various types of fruit trees seem to have grown beautifully, healthily, and not too much. Thanks Stark, for your well-tested and researched fertilizer product. Dr. RS

New Life
I inherited an orchard that had not been kept up. The trees were in rough shape and had little to know production. The first year I used the orchard fertilizer I saw an immediate improvement with more foliage and higher yields. I now use it every spring.

I love it it's A really high-quality product.
I recommend this product to anybody who's growing fruit trees great lines or any type of agitation and requires a higher amount of nitrogen and plants that are ver I recommend this product to anybody who's growing fruit trees great lines or any type of vegetation and requires a higher amount of nitrogen and plants that are very acid loving. Although it's urea nitrogen so just so you know it will make the soil clearly I said it for about 10 days when you first apply even though they don't tell you that and it's pure urea nitrogen so it's actually 46% not 45% nitrogen. Not to that 1% difference really matters. Anyways it's a very well-made product that's priced quite fairly and I'm very satisfied that's what I did I gave it five stars for. Also I noticed that there is no dice when in playing the product to my apple trees which is good not to worry about comparator some other he's not brands of fertilizers which may give you that problem. Finally I would recommend getting the 18 pound bag rather than the 5 pound bag just to save some money on purchasing in bulk like I did. The only thing that I disliked is that the products came about a week late to my house which was a bit disappointing but everything else seems to be fine by me otherwise.
