I figure this product can supply the needed nitrogen to my heavy feeders and established trees. So far I have been pleased with all the products I have tried. from Stark's.

Is this the right fertilizer for a mature peach tree? When we planted our Stark Bro peach tree years ago, we had a box of fertilizer we used yearly. Used it all up last year and no longer have the box...
Joni M on Mar 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes - use in the early spring around bearing trees (not young ones) by spreading around the drip line. See the package instructions for amount which varies with trunk diameter.
This will be the second growing season for the orchard-in-a-box order we placed last year. We initially used TrePrep with great results. Should we continue to use that or shift to this now that they are somewhat established? My concern is that this is only nitrogen and I'd prefer to use something that was a multi-purpose product. Will this be enough or should I just stick with TrePrep?
Michael on Mar 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'd stick with the Tre-Pep for now. It's more well-rounded for young trees. Once the trees all hit their fruit-bearing years (approximately their third year in the ground), they will take more nitrogen from the soil to support their fruit production cycle and then you may want to consider using Orchard Fertilizer to provide nitrogen (as needed).
If I use this product do I have to use calcum or potassium in addition, this will be the second year for my orchard?
Ali ha on Apr 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I only used the fertilizer, but my main goal was to produce a lot of greenery in my apple trees since they were growing slow.
How many cups approximately is 1/4 pound of this product?
David A on Apr 29, 2017
How to apply?
Otis W on Apr 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have only applied once since my purchase and had followed instructions by sprinkling on the ground and did so just hours before a gentle rain fell which appeared to dissolve the fertilizer. My trees are 3 years old and still relatively small but they all have bloomed this year and had not before but as I said, they are 3 years old and was hoping they would bloom this year. I will continue to use this product and monitor results but so far so good. Just sprinkled on ground approx. diameter of total tree width (didn't go any further than the branch width), grass is sure growing well around trees!
Will it hurt anything if I apply it a little late? Like right as new growth is starting?
NickD on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it shouldn't hurt anything to apply this fertilizer once new growth has started emerging. Just follow the label and be sure not to make the application after July 1.
I have a 10 /12 year old Stella cherry tree what kind of fertilizer should I use to promote good cherries ?
Estella M S on Nov 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi, Estella. You are on the right page. Stark Orchard Fertilizer is for older trees like yours. It's also a good idea to do a soil test to see if the pH is still within a good range (between 6.0 and 6.5) and to see if any micronutrients are missing.
Is Orchard fertilizer an organic or non-organic?
Ramesh on Feb 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's just nitrogen granules (derived from urea), but it's not composed of organic matter like leaves or grass cuttings.
Can I use the product on my fruit trees that I have in 20" containers ? They're citrus and avocado trees with fruit.
stevieo6833 on Apr 6, 2018

is it to late to fertilize after blossoms fall of ?
Ake O on Jun 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You should fertilize a fruit tree before the start to bud out. If you fertilize now you will spur a lot of growth that may be damaged if you have an early frost. This is great fertilizer, I use it on all my fruit trees, but would not do it this late.
We bought a white peach tree from Stark Brothers about 20 years ago. It bears wonderful mouth watering peaches for a long time, but it is declining now. Some branches have died, and we have serious problem with brown rot. What should we do? Can we plant a new tree in the same spot?
Ying Z on Oct 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Think about the type of care (or lack of care) you provided for your peach tree and then make a determination as to why brown rot occurred and solutions for brown rot. Because, this understanding can benefit you with your decision.
I have large fig plants that do not produce fruit. What do I do?
Gaylon B on Sep 21, 2019

I planted my apple tree May 2016, should I change my fertilizer or stay with tree prep? They are not growing too fast compared to the peach trees.
Jeanne B on May 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Apple trees grow considerably slower than peach tree. The tree is now technically 4 years old and a switch to the orchard fertilizer will spur the green growth. Good idea to do that.
Does this fertilizer also work on mature strawberry and raspberry plants? I always purchased a specific one for each from you and would like to find one for all plants and my mature peach tree. Thanks!
Shelley on Apr 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We do not recommend the orchard fertilizer for berry plants, just mature fruit trees. If you're looking for a truly excellent all-around fertilizer for all of your trees, plants, shrubs, vegetables - everything - Stark Tre-Pep is great. I used it for the first time on my garden last year and was very surprised by the difference it made. If you're interested, here is a link to that page: //
I'm getting 17 apple trees from you in a couple weeks. What is the best fertilizer/amount/directions for these bare root trees?
Also, I'm planting some bare root, 2-2 pine trees. Same fertilizer question please.
Thank you very much!
A long time customer.
Mike B on Mar 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Stark Orchard Fertilizer is intended for use on established trees. To get your trees off to a good start, use Stark Tre-Pep according to the package directions. It's got micronutrients in it that really help young trees get well established. It's also a superior fertilizer for other garden plants, including flowers and vegetables. can i use stark orchard fertilizer on a nectarine tree ?
t-bone on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you certainly can. This is meant for established trees, however, so it's not advisable to use it on a new/young tree.
This is a very fast acting product. I noticed that I had results in about one week after applying it to my apple trees. Is this normal for all urea nitrogen or just this product in particular?
Ryan E on Jun 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Orchard Fertilizer is a high-nitrogen formula, 45-0-0, that will boost vegetative growth. This is normal.
Would it be better to drill holes along dripline for administering fertilizer to 25 year old Dorothy Wyman crabapple trees?
Mary C on Jun 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That is a very astute question. An older tree can indeed benefit from a "deep-feeding" - there is some risk to damaging the fine feeder roots, however, so it's not advisable to drill too many holes. This fertilizer (Orchard Fertilizer) is very high nitrogen and is really better for younger trees. Your Dorothy Wyman may derive more benefit from using Stark Tre-Pep, a more balanced fertilizer. I inherited an orchard that had not been kept up. The trees were in rough shape and had little to know production. The first year I used the orchard fertilizer I saw an immediate improvement with more foliage and higher yields. I now use it every spring.

Stark Orchard Fertilizer: Easy; Effective; Complete
This Spring, 2016, I used Stark Orchard Fertilizer on my 34 fruit trees purchased from Stark from 2012 till 2015. After having read many excellent sites describing the use of fertilizer on fruit trees, I was concerned that overzealous use of fertilizer would cause extreme growth and invite even more codling moths. However, the Stark Orchard Fertilizer bag gave clear instructions on how much to use per size of tree and previous growth. It's mid-season now, and all the various types of fruit trees seem to have grown beautifully, healthily, and not too much. Thanks Stark, for your well-tested and researched fertilizer product. Dr. RS
