I love this banana tree

I've always wanted to have a banana plant.

Always wanted one and great price.

What is the size and age of the dwarf banana plant at shipping?

Thank you for your question! The Dwarf Banana Plant will be 6-12 months old and has a shipping expectation of 4" tall.

Can this banana plant grow in the house?

Yes! My plant is in a big planter. We move him outside for summer, and inside for winter (we live in Minnesota).

if left in the pot, how tall does the dwarf banana plant grow?

We have transplanted into a larger pot as the plant grows, it is about 3 1/2 foot tsall at this point but I expect it to get double that size or close? We have only had it less than 2 years. No blossoms as of this date we just look forward to watching and finding out what is to come. It is a beautiful plant!

I am interested in purchasing a dwarf cavandish banana tree for my son's birthday. He has a beautiful full glass conservatory where it should do well. How tall is this plant? Does it require special soil/fertilizers?

Thank you-Lisa

I've had mine for 16 months or so now, and it is about 4.5 feet tall, including the pot, to the top of the currently growing leaf. I haven't used a special soil, but I do use a tropical plant/fruit fertilizer.

Is this kept inside all year?

I actually have had my plant out in my green house during the winter with a heater. I think it would have done better if I brought it inside. It is doing much better now that it has gotten warmer. It can be kept inside but it may be better outside now for the sun.

Can I grow this inside my apartment?

The height shouldn’t be an issue, but it needs direct sunlight. Mine has done extremely well wintering indoors in a large, South facing window. In fact, we harvested bananas this winter.

Anyone is zone 8 (8B specifically) plant these banana plants and have them do well? I know they will die back in the winter but I want to make sure they'll come back in the Spring.

I've had one of these trees for two years. I live in zone 6, so I planted him in a large planter. I keep him in front of a sunny window during winter, and move him outside during summer. I'm still waiting for the bananas, but enjoy the beauty of this darling tree!!

Hi I was wondering what season are your bananas ready to harvest?

Cavendish bananas are ready to harvest 300–365 days after the plant matures, which is 160–190 days after the flower emerges. In most climates, it's best to wait up to 120 days after the flower emerges, so if the flower appears in mid-July, the bananas can be harvested in late October or early November.

What kind of soil does this banana plant need??
Our soil is CLAY and does not drain well!

This plant requires loamy soil. IF you have clay, you will need to amend your soil Adding materials such as organic compost, pine bark, composted leaves and gypsum to heavy clay can improve its structure and help eliminate drainage and compaction problems. Avoid adding sand or peat moss to clay; they can make those problems worse.

Can this be a houseplant?

You can definitely grow it in a pot but it needs lots of sun so it would be better outside while it is warm weather and bring it in before frost temps in your area. I live in zone 8 and bananas die back when planted in the ground outside but re-sprout when the warm weather returns.

Beautiful outdoors and Indoors
Beautiful plant. I had potted in 10" containers outdoord on Southern California and later indoors as a tropical addition. No fruit yet, but the plants are very healthy. I also gave one away to a neighbor to wonderful reviews.

Fast growing
I planted this plant in a pot this spring and put it in a sunny, partially shaded spot and it has grown larger than I expected. I knew it was supposed to be a fast-growing plant, but didn't realize it would grow this big in one summer. Plan on bringing in house for winter and it will take up some room.

My banana tree is growing very well in a large pot by my fish pond. I just hope it makes it through the winter in my greenhouse. My last one didn't.

MY BANANA TREE IS GROWING IN IOWA!
I love this banana tree! It grows on my sunny patio during late Spring, summer & the warmer days of autumn, then it comes inside, next to a sunny patio door window during the winter season. After 5 months, a second "baby" banana tree sprouted! My ordered tree has doubled in height in 5 months, to 3 feet tall, while the baby tree is already 8 inches tall.

Lush and lovely
We live in southeast North Carolina. The banana trees are in a semi shady spot and in pots. They have stood up to extended dry conditions AND extended wet conditions. All of it hot. They have grown remarkably well. Lots of foliage. An anole is living in them; beautiful habitat.
