Description

The Lisbon lemon is one of the most widely available varieties of lemon found in stores worldwide. This citrus tree has dark green leaves and blooms with white flowers that form bright yellow fruit. Lemon trees can be grown as a landscaping plant, orchard tree or in a container.

The lemons on these trees are bright yellow when mature, and have juicy, acidic flesh that contain very few seeds. Lisbon lemons are often confused with another popular lemon variety—the Eureka, which is also commonly available at the grocery store. However, Lisbon Lemon trees are slightly more cold-hardy and often produce a larger harvest.

Lemons are high in vitamin C, folate, and potassium. The fruit is often used for juice, zest, garnishes, marinades, and baking. Lisbon lemons store at room temperature for up to a week or can be refrigerated for up to two weeks. The juice and zest can be frozen.

The Lisbon Lemon Tree grown in containers will reach about 10 to 15 feet and a mature width between 4 and 6 feet. However, with perfect conditions when grown in the ground, this citrus tree can grow to 30 feet tall with a canopy that is 25 feet wide. Mature size can be kept smaller by pruning. If you live in a cooler climate, plant these warm-weather plants in containers so that you can move them indoors before freezing temperatures arrive.

Expect to harvest the main crop in winter. Once the tree is mature, it can fruit throughout the year, given the right conditions!

Has been doing well. Had a little difficulty at first, due to shock I guess, but has since recovered and seems to be doing well.

Lemon Tree
It arrived with the roots bare and dry. The pot and soil had apparently been jostled away from the tree. Maybe try tying some sort of cover over the pot. I'm just hoping the tree stays alive. My 'final' rating depends on if the tree survives the next few days.
