About The Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree

Beloved by citrus enthusiasts! Since its introduction in the 1870s, the Washington Navel has become the most popular orange variety in the United States.!

With its irresistibly sweet flavor and perfect balance of juiciness, the Washington Navel Orange is a delight to enjoy fresh. Unlike the Valencia Orange, which ripens later and is renowned for its juice, the Washington Navel boasts a large, meaty fruit that peels effortlessly and separates into delicious sections.

This early-maturing, seedless orange is one of the first fruits ready for harvest each winter, making it a highlight of the season. Its ability to remain on the tree for up to three months without compromising quality or integrity is truly impressive. The Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree is of medium size and yields abundant crops of seedless, orange-fleshed fruits. Cultivate this citrus treasure in your garden and experience the joy of savoring its exceptional taste year after year.

How to Grow Washington Navel Oranges

Growing Washington Navel Orange trees is a rewarding experience, whether you have a suitable outdoor climate or need to grow them in containers in cooler regions. These citrus trees thrive in full sun, so choose a location that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day.

They prefer fertile, well-drained soil with a pH level around 7. Regular watering is necessary to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. In cooler climates, container cultivation is an excellent option. Select a large container with good drainage and use a high-quality potting mix. Place the container in a sunny spot, such as a patio or near a south-facing window and protect it from frost or cold drafts.

Pruning can help manage the size of the tree and promote optimal fruit production. Fertilize the tree with a citrus-specific fertilizer according to the package instructions. With proper care and attention, you can enjoy the beauty and delicious fruit of your Parent Washington Navel Orange tree!

Whats the difference between parent washington navel and just a washington navel?
Which varieties of your orange trees contain seeds?

The Calamondin Orange Tree has seeds.

Does this tree come in a pot?

Yes, Please see the "Choose an option" dropdown menu near the top of the page, which will show you the various sizes/options that are available.

Do I need 2?

No. The tree is self fertile and will bear fruit on its own. To aid in pollination, you can use a small paint brush or cotton swab and dab each flower to transfer the pollen to another flower. This will help increase fruit production on the tree. Don't be surprised if some of the fruit drop off at some point. This is natural fruit drop. During the winter, if you keep the plant indoors, plant in a clay pot with a mix of 1/3 bagged manure, 1/3 pure peet moss, and 1/3 play sand. The peet moss must not have any soil amendments in it. You want an acidic soil. Fertilize with Miracid fertilizer. In winter winter months, if kept indoors, try to let soil get on the dry side before watering. Otherwise, you will get root rot that will rapidly kill the tree.

Oranges for its first full year!
Arrived in good condition. Good growth this first year. Just about ready to bring it in for the winter and I noticed pollinated buds all over the tree. Surprise. We might have oranges this winter!

Excellent tree
Tree came in very good condition even with new growth. Ours has since died due to the cold we had it protected in the shed with a heater but the breaker popped overnight and it was 20 degrees on there and it died. As long as you keep it protected from the cold it will be a great purchase.
