Why did you choose this?

Dwarf will only fit for my garden.

I know this company will send a quality product!

Fresh fruit

Self pollination

Why don't you have dwarf nectarines available? I've been trying to buy one for a long time and you've always been out of stock.
Can I grow this in a container?

My semi-dwarf red gold nectarine is in a 20 gallon pot. It is now in full bloom, lots of beautiful large dark pink flowers, for its third year with me and tiny fruit are forming. I have it in a 20 gallon pot and it has been perfectly happy from day one. My zone is 10a, Southern California along the coast where it is often wet and misty. I also have it under a large pavilion along with another variety nectarine and with my dwarf peaches to help prevent peach leaf curl. Hope that helps anyone wondering if they do well in containers.

is the red gold nectarine resistant to peach curl fungus?

This variety is not disease resistant.

I live in Columbia SC. We have very high humidity. Will this be a problem?

Good morning Chris my trees are growing in zone 6b in the mountains of Tennessee, I only planted 2 2 years ago but they took off I mean to say they were only two feet tall now they are 4 feet and a thick trunk in fact I plan on purchasing more, but they are planted in with other peach trees that are cross pollinators that stark recommend. Best of luck Mr Rose

What rootstock is being used on this tree? Is it Cotation?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. We use several different rootstocks, depending upon the desired result and what is available. For that reason, we're unable to guarantee a specific rootstock.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Is the Stark RedGold Nectarine Grafted? I have growth from my tree coming from the roots out of the soil but not the Trunk?

Yes this tree is grafted. More than likley what is growing is from the rootstock which is unknown to us. It could produce fruit but we do not know which variety or if it will be something that is flavorful or good to eat. If you tree is eligable for the 1 year warranty I recommend sending in an email or giving us a call to honor the warranty.

I live in Columbia South Carolina. Will the high humidity be an issue?

It could be, but best thing to do is reach out to your county extension office to see what they recommend for high altitude in your zone.

will stark gold nectarine trees be available next spring?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. We do not have a guaranteed ETA on when more will become available. We are very sorry for this inconvenience and completely understand your disappointment. Rest assured, that if you sign up for a notification, you'll be one of the first to be notified when it becomes available again.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, remember that we're here for you. Have a great day!

Will a Snow Queen nectarine purchased from Stark Bros. pollinate with the Stark RedGold nectarine?  If not what variety will.  Thanks. cg

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Nectarines are self pollinating and do not require another variety to bear fruit. However planting a second variety will increase your crop yield.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

Hi. I live in Carson City in Western Nevada (zone 7) and there tends to be extremely low humidity much of the time. Also, there are sometimes some unexpected freezing overnight temperatures in the late spring. We are considering 2 of your Santa Rosa plum trees, 2 of your RedGlo peach trees, and a RedGold nectarine tree, all 5 trees dwarf size or semi-dwarf. Do you see any problems with any of these choices in our climate?

The only issue you may have is the late freezes. If you know when this will happen, you could cover your trees at night with a sheet to prevent the buds from freezing.

Great tree, so far so good
Shipped in good condition, looked good. Planted RedGold nectarine early April. Its now mid June and it is doing excellent. Great branching and looks like a winner. I bought 6 fruit trees, 3 blueberry and 6 raspberry. All of them are doing well.

Beautiful, healthy, happy tree in 7A Hanover, VA
This nectarine tree is a no-fuss easy to grow tree in 7A. No pest issues, growing strong and beautifully. I expect fruit next year given its health and size. The Fantasia (which was a replacement for the sold-out-after-I-ordered Sunglo) planted next to it with the same growing conditions died, so the RedGold is by far the wiser choice of the two.

Branch above the graft did not sprout.
The nectarine tree I received sprouted from below the graft, which means it will not be a dwarf tree. Not a single sprout was above the graft. I planted the graft 3" above the soil.

The other 2 trees I ordered (bartlett pear and Santa rosa plum) were planted in the same manner and grew as expected.

A survivor
I thought I was going to lose the tree. The main stem kept failing. Finally, just above the graft union a sprout started. It did great, growing back the 20 inches that failed and, as of now, six more inches. If it does well this winter I should be well on my way to a lovely tree.

Hope their guarantee comes through!
The tree came in the box with buds on it. I immediately planted it (March, Idaho). The tree didn't make the transplant shock and is dying from the top down. As of May 26th there are no leaves or growth on it.
I've contacted Stark Bros about a replacement, they had me do the "scratch test" and I found some green cabium under the bark at the very bottom of the tree. The upper branches are brown through and through.
The tree really has no sign of life, so I'm waiting till the green disappears before I contact them again.
I'm not excited about missing an entire growing season, but I understand things die. I hope the tree they ship next spring makes it.

Nectarines
It died the week after I planted it. It was budding, then froze. Didn't come back from the frost.
