Description

Enjoy these juicy, sweet peaches early in the season! The Risingstar® Peach, part of the Stellar peach series, ripens up to a week earlier than the Redhaven. The beautifully red-colored, round fruit has attractive yellow and orange striped flesh.

The flesh is firm and melting with a pleasing sugar-acid ratio – perfect for fresh eating. Risingstar is a non-browning and semi-freestone peach variety and also has excellent shipping and storage qualities.

Hardy and vigor, the Risingstar® Peach tree has good resistance to bacterial spot and peach canker. This peach tree is a productive bearer of peaches with weeping growth with medium density.

Why did you choose this?

I needed to replace a tree that I lost this summer. It looked likea good fit for my area.

Have several peach trees wanted a different variety description and zone compatable

Mother’s Day present

What does it mean when the soil must be well drained?  I live in an area with clay soil and it drains slowly.

For soil to be well drained you will need loamy soil. Loam soils are loose and look rich. When squeezed in your fist, moist loam will form a ball, which crumbles when poked with a finger. Loam soils normally absorb water and store moisture well. Loam soils can be sandy or clay-based, but are a generally a mix of sand, silt or clay, and organic matter. They will vary in moisture absorption and retention.

Clay and silt soils are made of very small particles. They feel slick and sticky when wet. Clay and silt hold moisture well, but resist water infiltration, especially when they are dry. Puddles often form on clay or silt soils, and these soils become easily compacted.

Is this tree resistant to bacteria leaf spot?  Looking to grow in Oklahoma.

The Risingstar® Peach tree has good resistance to bacterial spot and peach canker.

Are these cling free?

These are a semi-freestone

Is this variety genetically engineered?

Stark Bro’s does not knowingly grow or offer genetically engineered plants or trees. We either graft our trees or grow them from cuttings.

How many chill hours ?

Hi David, Unfortunately there is no chill hour data available for this variety since it is so new. As long as your chill hours fall between 800 to 1200 hours this tree should bear fruit for you.

Will there be a Dwarf Variety for/with this tree???

We currently only have standard sized peach trees available for purchase at this time and we do not know if or when we will have any dwarf varieties back in stock.

I just bought a Risingstar Peach tree for fall planting. It fruits about a week earlier than Redhaven. Is there a white peach that would do well and cross-pollinate in Zone 5b? We are in Colorado (near Denver) and the winters are unpredictable. We can get a late snow some years. Which is more cold hardy - Stark Early White or Blushing Star?

Hi Melissa, The Blushing Star is more cold hardy and compatible in a zone 4 so I think this would be the better choice for your location.

Why can't you list the chill hours for your peach trees? It is probably the most critical info needed for southern growers and you leave it out.

Graft info would also be helpful as some us us have nematodes to deal with.

And what's with $50 to $60 for a 18" rooted twig? Really? I'll never pay that for a tree that small.

We are working on adding the hours and other information to our site for our new items, I have also sent this forward to our marketing team to add this info onto the site.

We use several different rootstocks, depending upon the desired result and what is available. For that reason, we're unable to guarantee a specific rootstock.

Our tree sizes very by what is available at the specific time you order. Sometimes we have multiple sizes available and some times we only have one.

Currently this tree ships out in an EZ start pot with an advanced root system at 3 - 4' tall, which is why it costs a bit more than our bare root variety, which you may be referencing.

EZ Start Supreme Pot - large tree and root system.
Plant arrived in great condition. Bigger and with a larger root system than I expected. Leaves were still green and healthy. New branches were already forming. Looking forward to watching it grow.
