Description

A Stark Bro's Exclusive!

Pear perfection. For lovers of russetted fruit, this pear is especially for you. It descends from Bartlett, so it’s full of juice, spice and sweet pear essence, but includes the nutty-tasting russet that adds an element of crispness and extra flavor. Medium to large pomes (slightly larger than Bartlett), with a golden base color and overlay of complete copper-colored russetting. The flesh is white and sub-acid/sweet, and the fruit hangs well on the tree. Keeps up to 8 months in refrigeration. Use as you would a Bartlett, for canning, fresh eating, preserves, syrup or pear butter. Originated as a bud sport in Yakima, Wash in 2009 by grower Doug Keithly, who also gave us Hosui, A-Ri-Rang (Korean Giant) and 20th Century Asian pears. Evenly ripens in very late August, about a week after Bartlett. Recommended pollinators: Starking® Delicious Pear, Moonglow or Stark® Honeysweet. May be covered by USPP #28,773 or other patents.
