Russetted Bartlett Pear Tree
Description
About the Russetted Bartlett Pear
The Russetted Bartlett is pear perfection for those who appreciate classic flavor with an extra layer of character. A natural sport of the beloved Bartlett, this distinctive variety delivers the same juicy sweetness and gentle spice Bartlett is known for, paired with a rich, nutty depth from its fully russeted skin.
The medium to large pears are slightly larger than standard Bartlett, with a warm golden base completely overlaid in copper-colored russeting. Inside, the flesh is white, crisp, and very juicy with a pleasantly sub-acid, sweet flavor. The fruit hangs well on the tree and ripens evenly in late August to early September, about a week later than traditional Bartlett.
Russetted Bartlett is exceptionally versatile in the kitchen. Use it just as you would a Bartlett for fresh eating, canning, preserves, syrup, or pear butter. With proper refrigeration, the fruit can keep for up to eight months, making it a standout choice for growers who value both flavor and storage life.
This unique pear was discovered in Yakima, Washington, in 2009 as a naturally occurring russetted limb on a Bartlett tree and was carefully propagated to preserve its distinctive traits. It continues to impress for its beauty, classic Bartlett character, and reliable performance.
