Why did you choose this?

I did order from you this persimmon trees many years ago. But it died . Fruit is big and delicious when is soft😀

It is the same variety of persimmon tree that was at the first house I bought over fifty years ago.

This fruit is excellent

Looking for a persimmon tree.

What size are all the trees when you ship them out ? I see nothing about this in any of the material I’m reading

When shipped, regular bare root trees are about 3-4' tall and/or with a 3/8" or larger trunk diameter. A Stark® Supreme Tree is one of the season's top-grade, bare-root trees that gives you a head start on growing. When Supreme trees are shipped, they are about 4-5' tall and/or with a 5/8" or larger trunk The EZ start trees ship 1.5-3 feet tall with an advanced root system.

Is this. Persimmon astringent or non astringent?

Hachiya persimmons are an astringent persimmon type, meaning they have a slightly bitter taste that dries the tongue when eaten before ripening. They should be eaten when fully ripe.

How tall is the tree?

That will depend upon which option you choose. Please see the "Choose an option" dropdown menu near the top of the page, which will show you the various sizes/options that are available. But When your tree matures, it will be approximately 15 - 20' tall x 15 - 20' wide.

Hi I was looking at the hachiya persimmon says it’s good for zone 6. But every other site says at least zone 7. I know you offer a guarantee but I don’t want to go through all the work of getting it planted if it won’t survive. Do you know where you got your info as to it being good to grow in zone 6?  Thanks

Hi and thank you for your inquiry. Our plants and trees are zoned according to studies and hardiness determined by the USDA. We also graft our trees and so depending on rootstock used this also can determine the hardiness of your plant/tree.

do they have seeds in the fruit?

The Hachiya Persimmon is an astringent, semi-self pollinating, deciduous tree that produces sweet, seedless (or near-seedless) fruit.

why my hachiya fruit skin turning black paches  ?

The spots are harmless, related to weather and only skin-deep. They don't penetrate the flesh and will not affect the cooking or eating quality of the fruit.

You list Hachiya as zone 6-10.  All other nurseries I see list them as zone 8-10.  Is it a mistyped?

To the best of my knoweldge no this is not a typo.

My land is in an area where crop dusting is common, will that hurt the young tree?

It depends on how close you are to the crop dusting. Is it a few feet or a mile or more? If it's a mile or more, you don't have to do anything. If it's closer, then contact your local agricultural extension agent and ask. They'll answer all your questions. If it were me, I'd ask the extension agent anyway.

If I planted a Hachiya now in October will it survive the winter here in 08088 (Southern NJ)?

Hi William, This is a really good question. The weather has started to change here in MO and our trees and plants are getting ready to start dropping their leaves to go dormant. Because of this, you should be able to safely plant now.

Please keep the below conditions in mind when deciding if now is the best time to plant.

1) when the ground is not frozen, 2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF, and 3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, remember that we're here for you. Have a great day!

Is this fruit tree astringent?

The Hachiya Persimmon is Astringent until fully soft ripe.

Nice tree
A nice healthy little tree that arrived well packaged in early spring. We planted it according to directions and it is now growing very well. It's still to young to produce any fruit but it did get a lot of buds that have fallen off.

a nice little tree
I have had my Hachiya only for one year. My zone (6b) is not quite compatible with this variety, so I've kept it in a 5 gal pot and moved it inside to overwinter. It grew well in the past year, having one foot growth. So far so good. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

Outstanding, very pleased
By chance, we planted this tree approx 7 years ago. It produces a large beautiful delicious fruit that will amaze you and your neighbors. The persimmon is as large as my open hand and only one can be held at a time. This year we had 60-70 fruits and at approx 1 cup of pulp avg, that’s a lot of glorious fruit!
