Recommended Spacing

We recommend spacing these trees 15 - 20' apart to ensure room for growth.

I purchased persimmons once from a grocery store and loved the taste but couldn't remember the specific type. I ordered the Hachiya because my father told me about the kind he used to eat growing up. I decided on this kind because I want to give it a try.

If I planted a Hachiya now in October will it survive the winter here in 08088 (Southern NJ)?
William H on Oct 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi William, This is a really good question. The weather has started to change here in MO and our trees and plants are getting ready to start dropping their leaves to go dormant. Because of this, you should be able to safely plant now.

Please keep the below conditions in mind when deciding if now is the best time to plant.

1) when the ground is not frozen, 2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32??F) and below 90??F, and 3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, remember that we're here for you. Have a great day!

Outstanding, very pleased
By chance, we planted this tree approx 7 years ago. It produces a large beautiful delicious fruit that will amaze you and your neighbors. The persimmon is as large as my open hand and only one can be held at a time. This year we had 60-70 fruits and at approx 1 cup of pulp avg, that’s a lot of glorious fruit!
