Why did you choose this?

Colorful and hardy.

Fall color, says I can have success in the Bay Area of CA

Add color to a section of our landscape

I wanted some color in the yard.

is this a perennial ?

Technically, yes. It is deciduous, meaning it loses it leaves after a few frosts and returns/releafs every spring.

We want to make hedges from these....Will the burning Bush work?

Absolutely! A hedge of these plants will put on a stunning fall show. Just make sure you abide by the spacing guidelines above and don't plant them too close or too far apart or you will lose the effect.

when is the best time to plant these for zone 6a?

We appreciate you reaching out to us. Because weather and soil conditions vary so much from year to year and even within your zone, it's best to think of your planting time as a range of favorable conditions instead of an exact time.

You can plant new plants and trees:
1) when the ground is not frozen.
2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF.
3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!

How fast do these plants grow?

They'll grow about a foot or more per year, then stop at about 5'.

I have a space 15 ft long and 6 feet wide. I would place on one side of my patio. How many shrubs would you recommend?

These should be planted 3-4' apart, so if you wanted a nice thick hedge, you should plant 5 of them 3" apart. Stunning display of fall foliage!!

What kind of berries do you get from this plant?

This is not an edible plant; eating the ornamental berries or any part of this plant is extremely toxic to dogs, and can make humans very ill. DO NOT consume the berries of this plant.

how fast does this bush grow, and how long before it starts to flower? I planted mine about 3.5 to 4 ft. from my fence and about ten feet apart in full sun!

Growth rates vary depending on environmental conditions, but in general, you can expect your dwarf burning bush to grow between 1 and 2 feet per year until it reaches maximum size.

Never took off
The plants arrived in okay condition. After 3 years they never took off. I don’t know if it’s because they were too small to begin with or something else? I received 3. One of them in the second year died.

Dwarf burning bush
I purchased a dozen and only 2 survived. I was not happy with my experience.
Also the fruit trees I got last year Also did not make it. As you can see I have not purchased anything since. I got 3 - $30 each apple trees 7' high with 1 1/4" trunks that are doing fine. Just waiting for some pear and peach trees to come available locally to replace what died. You did not have a choice less than 1 star or I would have chose that.

crop failure
I purchased two plants, one I gave as a gift.
Neither plant survived, it has been almost a year since I purchased the plants.
I am a Nurseryman and have my own Greenhouse growing business and could
not get these plants to stay alive the cuttings just weren't viable.

Disappointing
Tiny sticks that never grew. I ended up losing all of them except 3. Although my Black Walnuts May have contributed to their demise. I should have checked on that first
