Description

Purple Passion Asparagus is one of the most unique and rewarding vegetables you can grow at home. With striking deep purple spears, exceptionally sweet flavor, and remarkable cold hardiness across Zones 3–10, it’s a standout variety for any garden. Plant it once and enjoy harvests for 20 years or more.

Sweet, Tender, and Unlike Any Asparagus You’ve Tasted

Purple Passion lives up to its name. Its spears contain about 20% more natural sugar than green asparagus, giving them a noticeably sweeter, nuttier flavor that’s mild enough to eat fresh right out of the garden. The texture is incredibly tender — no tough, fibrous stalks here. Note that the purple color turns green when cooked, so enjoy them raw or lightly steamed to keep that beautiful color.

Why Gardeners Love Purple Passion
  • Sweeter than green asparagus — 20% more natural sugar, with a rich, nutty flavor
  • Tender enough to eat fresh — straight from the garden, no cooking required
  • Perennial producer — plant once, harvest for decades
  • Exceptionally cold hardy — thrives in Zones 3–10, one of the widest ranges available
  • Mostly male crowns — male plants produce more spears and outlast female plants
What’s Included & What to Expect

Each order includes a pack of 10 bare-root asparagus crowns, ready to plant. Asparagus requires a little patience — plan for a 3-year establishment period before your first full harvest. But once it’s producing, Purple Passion delivers tender spears each spring from early April through mid-May with very little effort on your part.
