Is Lilac tree deer resistant? You see, we have a lot deer in our back yard.

They might be ok until the bucks start getting horns. They rub the velvet off the new horns and will ruin your trees. I had twenty 5 foot trees destroyed last year. My advice would be to find or buy a piece of black plastic drain tile and drill some holes the length of pipe. Dig around the base of tree stick about 4 inches of pipe in ground the zip tie the pipe shut.

Should I clip off two green stems growing near the main stem?

Yes, it does.

The leaves on the red pixie lilac I purchased have all turned a reddish purple color. I can't find any information about this being normal. Anyone else experience this or know whether there's something I can do to remedy it?

Red Pixie Lilacs
The plants arrived healthy and are now in the ground over a year and doing well. They survived a harsh Minnesota winter.

too early for decisive comment
arrived in good condition but it is too soon to know how they will fare. I planted them a bit late in the season. Look promising for next year, 4 stars only because of time frame.

Planted carefully. Water as needed. Guarded from injury. Minimal signs of growth. I will continue to care for this lilac expecting better days.

Strong but slow to grow
Hard to rate so far. It's growing but so far it hasn't shown any lilacs. We'll see how it does as the summer progresses.

Maybe next time
Only purchase from Stark that failed, they were quick to resolve. I had hoped to order a replacement but there were none in stock. The other variety next to it, took off and is doing great.
