BEST ANSWER: Of course, much depends on what kind of soil it's planted in, and other factors like sun, rainfall, nutrients and drainage, but this should be full size within 4-5 years. When your plant matures, it will be approximately 4 - 6' tall x 4 - 5' wide.

BEST ANSWER: When I first received them they were very small and I planted them in planters/ containers they are getting bigger it is my intention to put them in the ground but they have been in container for a couple of seasons
is it deer resistant?

BEST ANSWER: It is not resistant but Deer do not destroy or severely damage the plant. It is a perennial flowering shrub with blooms weeping from the upright center. The weigela is a member of the honeysuckle family.

Could this grow in a large container, say a half barrel?

BEST ANSWER: Sure, that would be beautiful! That is also the right container size. Just make sure it stays evenly moist as it will dry out quicker than if it were planted in the ground.
What does it look like in the winter? I'm trying to decide where to place it in my yard.

BEST ANSWER: Weigela is a deciduous plant, meaning it will drop its leaves after a couple of killing frosts. It will bloom until fall, when the leaves turn a very deep purple, then drop for the winter.

just the foliage looks very nice, growing well. look forward to flowering next year.

When I received it looked fine... when planting there was hardly any root to it... watered it regularly and fertilized also... struggled all of last year.... just maintained without the needed roots for a small plant.... came up this spring from the bottom... not over four inches tall now... still pampering it... have had some of these through the years potted … just way too small when I bought this one... hoping it makes the root growth it needs to sustain itself this year... fingers crossed...
