Questions & Answers
Redbuds are considered not particularly appealing to deer. However, a hungry deer will eat almost anything.
he Forest Pansy Redbud has a rapid growth rate. At maturity, you could expect it to be between 20-30 ft tall, with a 15-20 ft spread. Though they do best in light, rich soil, Forest Pansy's will adapt to any soil (clay, sand, alkaline etc.).
This is the first year for blooms has a few pods on it,but not as Mary as a red bud hope that helps you
That's a great answer, they could be considered both colors. The most outstanding feature I find about the Forest Pansy is the season long maroon colored leaves, and the shape just perfect in a border or a lawn specimen. You can't go wrong with this redbud.
I live in Oakley, Calif.. I purchased my forest-pansy-redbud about 2 years ago and it is growing well on sandy soil and hot weather. I water, feed, mulch, and use my coffee grounds often. It is a beautiful tree and Starbros delivers well as I could not find this tree locally.
Forest Pansy does attract birds as a place to land on. My yard has 2 Forest Pansies, a Purple Plum tree, an Oklahoma Redbud and an American Redbud. Birds fly and land on all the trees and then go to several bird feeders and watering places I have placed. Of course, after seeing that there is no feral cat below. I highly recommend the Forest Pansy Redbud.
Hi Kay, I found several sources that say deer don't particularly care for this plant and will usually leave it alone.
Currently trees are dormant and will not have leaves.
