I grew up with one of these trees in my backyard. It ended up much larger than these say they will be. Anyway, I just remember how vivid and bright the whole tree was when it was in bloom. That tree was absolutely beautiful and I've been trying to find that same color forever. I'm 99% sure this one is it!

will honey bees come to it ?
david h on Aug 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I planted the tree in the spring of 2015. It blossomed for the first time this past spring. It only had a hand full of blossoms but it did bring in some honey bees. I have a small orchard nearby and had lots of fruit blossoms this spring which attracted many bees including honey bees. Maybe the honey bees found my crabapple because of its proximity to the orchard?
How does Almey compare with Royalty in bloom color and hardiness? I need the hardiest possible and wish to have pink/red blossoms.

BEST ANSWER: Our Crab Apple is doing quite well for a youngster - It is right at 2 yrs old and difficult for a comparison, but it is hardy, has bloomed (pink/red), has survived extremely hot summers.

Will these trees help pollination of my other Apple trees?
Blake L on Mar 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes! This is a big benefit of having crabapple trees growing and blooming near eating-apple trees. They are an ample source of pollen and their bloom times tend to overlap the varying bloom times of other apple trees.

Nice tree
I ordered this tree because we wanted something to dress up our back yard.My father-in-law had one which our kids grew up with it and when we sold his house the new owner cut it down which upset our kids, maybe our grandkids will play in this one. So far it is growing well and has added color to a drab corner of our yard. I would recommend this tree to anyone looking for a nice tree with good color.

Tough tree
I planted it last fall, and it survived a long cold wet winter and even survived the snow plow covering it completely with snow. This summer it was nice and green, blossomed, and then something broke it off at the ground. I thought it was a goner, but now he's about a foot tall and doing well.

Happy to find a low priced flowering crab
Time is money and instead of getting one older, larger tree I got multiple smaller but sturdy young ones. Put a $20 tree in a $100 hole and water it all season as if you have $100 invested, and it'll be worth the wait.

I wanted a small, flowering tree for our front yard. Stark had the best selection, enabling me to get one that had the best chance of thriving given the environment. Shipping was rapid, the tree was in great shape upon arrival, and came with lots of instructions to help insure its survival. Tree made it through the winter, is in its second year and is thriving. I would definitely recommend ordering from Stark...good selection, safe and fast delivery, great support.

Due to circumstance beyound my control the malus sat in a bucket of water for many weeks before I was able to plant. When it was finally planted it leafed out and started to grow. Amazing!! Needles to say it gets the highest marks from me. Ann Virginia
