Questions & Answers
I have several pecan trees near black walnuts and hickories. No, there will be no impact from nearby walnuts or hickories. The important thing is to get a variety of the correct types (Type 1 or Type 2) of Pecan trees to ensure proper pollination. I staggered alternating Type 1 then Type 2 then Type 1, etc. to ensure any type was near the pollinating type.
This is an awesome pecan. They truly make a huge nut. Made me not to want to deal with any other pecan since it dwarfs all others. Can't compare with a desirable as I don't have one. I bought two more giants last year
Karrie, I live in Virginia zone 6b and my Southern Giant Pecan is doing fantastic. In fact I planted eight different Stark Bros. pecans and they are all thriving. I lived in So. Jordan for four years and the weather here is very similar except humidity so I would expect the pecan to do very well as far as the temperature goes. I've had mine for two and half years and it's healthy and strong.
Hi Ruth, The Starking Southern Giant Pecan tree can take 6-9 years to establish before bearing nuts. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, remember that we're here for you. Have a great day!
We appreciate you reaching out to us. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot ship products outside the United States, or to Hawaii.
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
Pecan trees are grafted and if the graft part failed what is growing is the rootstock and that typically is of a redleaf seedling. So what is growing is not true to variety.
My tree is finishing its second year in the ground. No fruit yet but I believe it takes 4-5 years to see appreciable amounts of fruit from this type of tree. It's a commitment. :)
I believe this is a restricted item which means we cannot ship to your zone.
We appreciate you reaching out to us. Because weather and soil conditions vary so much from year to year and even within your zone, it's best to think of your planting time as a range of favorable conditions instead of an exact time.
You can plant new plants and trees:
1) when the ground is not frozen.
2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF.
3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach back out to us. Have a great day!
Pecans are grafted with a pecan seeding unfortunatley seedlings are in a bin and not marked so we cannot guarentee a variety,
