we have first year red raspberry plants. What is the process for pruning this fall?
mamaw on Aug 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Cut away anything brown (canes and leaves) and discard them. I have had no problems with cutting down 2yr old plants to about 4 inches above ground as well as no issues with leaving them the way they are (after cutting off dead brown canes) thru the winter till it warms up.
Can you plant berry bushes under or around pine tree?
Cindy G on Mar 27, 2020

Abigail H on Jun 21, 2020
Yes it does discuss growing and harvesting elderberries and their relaiives quite thoroughly. Ten pages in total, but just a paragraph or two on uses.
Does this book cover a large variety of berries?
D'Ann M on Mar 18, 2018
my apple trees will be blooming in about two to three weeks. should i spray them now?
mickey on Feb 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I would not spray the trees while in bloom as this could harm the bees and the pollination process. I recommend using Bonide fruit tree spray or Bonide Citrus fruit and nut orchard spray Once the flower petals have fallen off, start spraying the trees on a regular schedule. Approx every 7-10 days reference label for the fruit you are spraying.
How and when do I prune my peach tree that's grown in a 1/2 wine barrel?
Patti T on Mar 14, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Pruning should be done in late winter / early spring before bud break while the tree is still dormant.
Are there information about pecans in the fruit gardener's bible?
William R on Feb 2, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes This is a fabulous book. I got it for my husband. He reads it every time he has a gardening or plant question
We received a ???Himrod Grape Plant??? at Christmas. Please advice what soil it should be planted in. Also can it be planted in a container pot?
Sharon on Apr 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This variety likes loamy soil that is somewhat acidic, with a pH range between 5.5 - 6.5. Unless you want to restrict its production, we wouldn't advise planting it in a container. Also, trellising it would be quite difficult as this is a vigorous vine.

The fruit gardeners bible has lot of good information. At times it's a little dense and I had to read for a while to find what I wanted and then it wasn't very clear what I should do. But overall it's a good resource.
