Description
Protandrous Type I
Enjoy growing your own delicious pecans in your own backyard!
Tom produces nuts about 58 nuts per pound and 55% kernel with good kernel color. You’ll enjoy snacking and baking with these protein-packed pecans! These nuts are a natural source of antioxidants, protein, unsaturated fats, and more.
The Tom Pecan Tree is an excellent producer of quality nuts. It is distinguished from other pecan varieties due to the following unique combination of characteristics: High prolificacy, consistent production, early nut maturity, a kernel size suited to the confection trade, excellent kernel color, absence of kernel speckling, and excellent resistance to the scab fungus and high resistance but not immunity to black aphid and pecan leaf scorch mites.
Tom Pecan was released in 2014 by Dr. Darrell Sparks at the University of Georgia.
