pH 6.0 after using two rounds of alum sulfate and elemental sulfur

Can this product be used on herbs?

Hi John, Herbs is not listed on the label so I am not sure if it can be used or not. The label list instructions for shrubs, flowers, shade and fruit trees and vegetables.

Can I apply some amount to the hole right before planting tomatoes and cucumbers? And how much?

YES, a couple of teaspoons per plant. Mix with the soil.

Organic?

No, Hi-Yield Triple Super Phosphate (0-45-0) is not organic.

Shade and fruit trees: Apply 2 lbs for each inch of trunk diameter?I feel it’s too much? Please confirm! Thank you!

Hello JiHong. The instructions are correct and it will not hurt your trees due to the slow release of the phosphates. However if you want to cut the amount in half I am sure you will still see an improvement in your trees.

Will this product work well with Lupines as I have 14 and my soil is very close to acidic?  I need to get my soil more asidic.

I do not use this product to increase acidity of the soul. Triple phosphate is used to attempt to get more blooms. Manure/compost decreases soil pH as does aluminum sulphate. There are also non chemical ways (in addition to manure) to drop your soil pH. If you have an agricultural extension office in your county, they not only test pH but can also make recommendations for how much of what products to use!

Can I use the triple strength phosphate on a lawn that is mildly low on phosphorus?

Hi Barbara, This is a really good question. I assume that you could add some of this product to your lawn to improve your phosphorus levels but the label does not have any direction for this.

How will this product affect soil pH?  I need to maintain low pH but would like the root promotion qualities they promise here.

Yes, it will probably raise the pH of the soil if it is a lower level. Typically if you have a higher pH, it will not affect it much but it does increase lower pH levels.

Can you substitute bone meal 0-25-0 for rock phosphate?

Bone Meal is going to be a higher & faster Phosphorus availability than Rock Phosphate will. If you need faster results, the bone meal will be an advantage, but don't forget that the microbes are what unlock the phosphorus for your trees in the long term and the rock phosphate will be a good addition to the soil mix too. . . slow & steady always wins the race

Application rate per tomato plant 4' tall  8' tall?

Apply 2 lbs over 30 sq ft and mix into the soil prior to planting. Side-dress with 2 lbs per 30 linear ft of row after seeding or planting. Water thoroughly after applying.

Test your soil BEFORE using
While phosphorus is important for plant development. PLEASE have your soil checked BEFORE adding to the soil. It used to be very common to have Triple phosphorus added to the hole when phosphorus. It is no long recommended because P stays in the soil a very long time. Since rosarians have started testing the soil, turns out many people had soil too HIGH in phosphorus. That is not good. Get your soil tested BEFORE you use Triple P. You may not need it.
