Does it cut off a lot of the apple when peeling?

no, once you figure the proper setting for the blade it works great. It is wonderful when peeling a great many apples, but not worth the effort of only doing 2 or 3. It does not waste the apple!

Can you peel peaches or pears with this too?

This tool is meant to be used on apples only but we've found it to work well on Asian pears (not European pears).

Great Apple Peeler
This device makes any kind of apple dessert so simple and fast. I never dread making any dessert with apples any longer! I would recommend this to anyone, even a novice cook.

Apple Peeler
This is a great tool if you have a lot of apples to deal with. It is quick and efficient. The base stays firmly suctioned to the counter top. The spiral apple slices are fun to eat and they work well if you are making pies.

apple peeler problem
my peeler is defective. can not screw pin that secures wooden handle into the crank arm. threads seem to be defective. I think threads are left hand which is probably appropriate but have tried to connect both left and right hand but threads will not even start to engage. have not contacted stark yet since have had computer problem and not able to get on internet until now. I have not been able to try peeler yet but expect that stark will fix the problem in some way. would like an email response to tell me how stark can correct the problem. may be as simple as sending a new pin for the handle.
