Do you put trays and potted plants in the cold frame or can you plant things right in the ground beneath the cold frame? The answer will help me determine where to locate the cold frame i.e. on a stone terrace or out near the veggie garden. Thank you.
Helen B on Oct 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Helen, Thank you for contacting us. The bottom is open on the cold frame so you can put trays and potted plants inside or you can plant right in the ground beneath the cold frame. I will email you pictures from different angles that might help you. Your planting success is important to us!

I have ordered 8 Apple Trees to plant this Spring. Since they are shipped bare root and the soil is not too rich. Should I use mulch or similar fertilizer?
G R W on Feb 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Always mulch your trees with an organic mulch and use a fertilizer specifically meant for young trees, like Stark Tre-Pep. Please use only as directed or you could burn the young roots. Here is a link to that page: //www.starkbros.com/products/tools-and-supplies/soil-additives/stark-tre-pep-fertilizer
What kind of clear poly does it have?
Moses E on Dec 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Moses, This is a good question. The All-cedar construction features virtually indestructible Tuftex polycarbonate.
Is a small bit needed to drill holes into the wood as as not to split the cedar; actually what would you recommend that will keep it sturdy and sound, even if later on you want to expand/combine two or more units? Cold frame. I have a similar 'partial cold frame; the side were wooden and partially rotted, but I have a cover quite similar to the one pictured. Inherited from a relative who barely used it, so I did...my eyes are bigger than my reality/motivation. I need a sign in my garden :"Garden of Weeden" I'm 76yo OhioState Buckeye Aggie Botanist, lead hikes in Glacier Natl Park but missed growing a garden during that time!; Home now!!! ;)

Sturdy and good looks
Easy to assemble even for a senior citizen! Watch out for splintery wood edges though. These frames are nice but I would have expected nicer materials for the price.
I wanted something easy to put together and this was definitely easy. I would recommend these to older persons who want a nice cold frame easy to assemble.
