Description

Boost your crops — naturally! This plastic film reflects red light back to plants to improve yields. Also insulates the soil to stimulate growth and keep soil warm on cooler nights. Helps to retain moisture and control weeds. Cut the size you need from the roll and use as directed with strawberries, tomatoes, and other crops that fruit above the ground. Perforated material allows soil to breathe. 1 mm thick.

Material may be reused for two to three seasons

Will the Better Red mulch film allow strawberry runners to penetrate and start?

The perforations in the Better Reds mulch are only meant to let air and water through, but you could certainly punch a little bit larger hole to pin down a runner and let it establish.

Can The red mulch be used in southern gardens?

Well, i certainly gets to the 90s in my garden and it holds up pretty well. I would say yes.

How many millimeters thick is this plastic?

Thank you for your question. Better Reds mulch film is 1 mil thick.

Do you lay the film down before the soil? How much to use per plant? Thank you, Lisa

The film is put down on top of the soil and Allow several feet of the red showing on either side of the plant or row. Here is a helpful video if you are still unsure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbK1WOEIl6M

What is the difference between Zone 8 and Zone  8A ?

Using historical temperature data, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) divided the country into 13 hardiness zones, ranging from 1 (coldest) to 13 (warmest). Each of these zones is further divided into “A” and “B” for greater accuracy, with A being colder than B. Click here to see the USDA's hardiness zone map.

Tests I did before trying product, and Product seemed to work.
I read articles about using red underlying for tomato plants and I tested it over three years with a red pot with the bottom cut out and placed over the tomato plant. Result I had no bug issues and better tomatoes compared to the other 2 plants I had nothing but grass clippings around these. Tries an old red tablecloth next 2 years and spaced plants on different parts of garden with and without red cloth. Again, Red cloth plants had no bug issues and tomatoes looked better. All plants same variety. Plum. This year I moved, so when I saw the film I tried it and I have more tomatoes than I can use. I used it in the entire bed where I planted all the tomato plants. Maybe next year I will read more and see if it helps other plants as well.

works good
I used the red mulch in my strawberry and blueberry patch. It is better than a cheaper red mulch I used before which is falling apart after 1 year. The better red mulch is still holding up and the strawberrys do not rot from touching the ground.

Didn't stop the weeds
I used this on my strawberry patch last year. The weeds grew up under it and I had to keep reaching under it to pull the weeds out. If I were to use another cover in the future I think I would try the ones that are black like the ones the commercial growers use.
