Why did you choose this?

Initial planting at location where a bed had not previously been established

I creating a micro-farm and have a limited amount of space.

We got these to create a quick and simple garden bed for our kids to learn to garden.

My soil is clay so thought this tool will assist in my growing nice crops of strawberries.

This holds 50 plants? About how many would I plant in each of the layers? Would they go in a line around the circle, or just staggered throughout? I'm new to this

Each plant needs about a square foot of growing space. You can equally space about 18 plants around the bottom tier; 12 plants around the 4-foot tier and 6 in the 2' top tier.

How many square feet of soil will it take to fill this planter?

According to the instructions that come with the planter, "You will need approximately one cubic yard of good rich top soil to fill all rings."

this may seem like a stupid question, but could I plant strawberry plants in a kiddie pool? Presently I use a walker to get around and can't manuever in the yard to plant anything, so this seems to be my best bet, so I am just asking

Sure you can! Just make sure to put drainage holes in the bottom and use good soil. There are no silly questions
!!

I hesitated buying this for years because of small children. I was afraid they would fall on sharp metal edges while picking strawberries. Are the edges sharp?

The edges are actually rounded and very flexible so no sharp edges are exposed, so very low chance of cuts. I have two of them, and if a small child was to fall on them, it's going to do more damage to the planter than the child in my opinion - the metal is like a heavy aluminium foil.

How tall is each tier of the pyramid planter?

4" is about right. Once installed, the overall height of the entire pyramid was a great shorted than what I had envisioned. It's only a small rise, really, and we have the 3 tier model.

Can this planter shaped to rectangle instead if circle? And besides strawberry, can I plant other vegetables?

To make this a rectangle, you would need to use 4 corner posts on the inside
of the planter to hold its shape. Hook it together and then place the posts/stakes to create your 4 corners and shape it into a round cornered rectangle. Set the stakes firmly in the ground to hold the shape. They don't need to be any taller than the planter.

You can plant just about anything in these as long as the soil depth is sufficient for what you are growing, especially important for root crops.

When is a good time of year to start plants ?

Thank you for your question. Because weather and soil conditions vary so much from year to year and even within your zone, it's best to think of your planting time as a range of favorable conditions instead of an exact time.

You can plant new plants and trees: 1) when the ground is not frozen, 2) when daytime temperatures are above freezing (32ºF) and below 90ºF, and 3) when extreme weather (blizzard, hail, torrential rain, etc.) is not in the forecast. Be sure to keep plants watered if you're transplanting in warm and/or dry weather.

How much soil is needed for a two tier pyramid planter?

I Used one backhoe bucket worth of dirt and i think it is a yard and a half

Netting for pyramid?

We have had strawberries in this bed for the past 2 years, and they were not netted. We have had real issues with birds and rabbits nibbling on our berries. They were eating more than us! Bird netting is a must, and will be installed this spring.

Works for us!
We planted 75 crowns last year between 2 of these pyramids, and they have worked very well. If anything they are a but crowded as the runners can be hard to keep under control, but we are very happy with them.

Pyramid Planter
Planter is easy to set up. The plants are very easy to access and water. I did put Ina different watering head due to being on a well with lots of minerals that clogged the sprinkler it came with. Plants are doing very well!

Great bang for the buck
I have the 3-tier pyramid planter, and I actually don't use it for strawberries. Instead, I am using it as a raised bed for vegetables. It is a great use of space, and the integrated irrigation nozzle is a really nice feature. It does feel a bit flimsy as you are installing it, but it holds up just fine once you fill it with soil. It is a tremendous value for what it costs.

Pyramid Planter has many uses
I bought the Pyramid Planter for a different purpose. I use the corrugated aluminum to place around my trees and shrubs to protect them from lawnmowers and weedeaters. The aluminum is light-weight, easy to handle and is the perfect protection for my garden.

Pyramid planters
I have three pyramid planters set up at this time, we like the ease of picking and weed control is easier than having the berries in rows. We are having good luck and good yields with these.

I love this planter
I love this pyramid planter. I was able to plant 25 plants and take up less space in my yard. It was easy to put together and the instructions were easy to follow. My sons and I had a great time constructing our strawberry patch and this year it is overflowing with tons of berries! The only issue I see with the design is that people with short arms will have difficulty picking the berries at the top of the planter. Luckily, I am tall and it doesn't make a difference to me!

Pyramid planter
We now have three of the pyramid planters now, they loaded with strawberries a few have a bit color starting and the berries are nice sized. The towers make it easier to keep weeds cleared. Looking forward to a lot of fresh berries. John

Great space saver.
(I really thought I had already done this.) I really haven't had it long enough to voice an intelligent opinion. So far, I feel it could have been from a little heavier metal. Took more soil than it said it would, but that is no problem. When it settles, I'm sure I will have to add more. Ask me in a year how I like it.
