New Product!

Also referred to as McKenzie Black Chokeberry, this rounded, upright growing shrub serves as a hardy ornamental and edible; showcasing beautiful, white blooms in the spring and plump purple berries that ripen in September. The McKenzie displays beautiful fall colors of red and orange, making this 4-season shrub a great addition to your edible landscape.

Renowned for its antioxidant rich berries and high nutritional value, the Mackenzie Black Aronia is native to eastern North America. The berries are quite juicy but begin to shrivel after ripening. Aronia berries can be eaten fresh on their own or used as an ingredient in pies, juices, and tea. Many describe the complex flavor as tart and earthy when eaten fresh.

This aronia berry bush attracts songbirds and butterflies but is hardy enough to deter deer and rabbits. Most birds don’t bother, only eating the berries after the first frost.

Aronia berries prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade and is adaptable to a variety of climates and soil types.
