Why did you choose this?

Had these berries and they are big and delicious

Zone 4, with large berry size and good flavor. Adding to 8 other assorted blueberries.

Was recommended for large berries and good flavor.

Good reviews so trying it out.

Why is this listed as zone 4 when the description says only -15?

Because this variety has performed well in zone 4, where -15 degrees F is not unusual. You should still consider applying winter protection (like straw for insulation) if your area is known to dip to lows of -20 and -30 degrees F.

Are deer attracted to blueberries?

Deer are rats with antlers. They eat anything and everything. You need a fence, and bird netting

If I wanted to plant a pollinating partner for the Chandler Blueberry so that I get a better crop, what would my options be?

Bluecrop and Jersey would be two of the better varieties to serve as pollinators.

Are blueberry bushes evergreen?  If yes, which varieties?

Our bushes loose their leaves in autumn. They leaf again in spring.

do you have to prune blueberries and if so, when and how much?

Never had to- it stays compact (about 4' high) and stays healthy.

Does this blueberry have big seeds?

Blueberries have tiny seeds.. smaller than carrot seed.. maybe 1/4 their size at the most.

I am in zone 7a, can the chandler blueberry tolerate partial shade?

Yes, but not too much. They like something close to full sun. I have several Chandlers in opartial sun, and they are doing well.

can this blueberry be grown in a pot?

Yes. Mature blueberries need a container at least 24 inches deep and about 24-30 inches wide. When planting smaller shrubs, start with a smaller container and repot as it grows. Repot in late summer - early fall so roots have enough time to grow before winter.

I just received my Chandler plants in 4" pots I live in zone 6a is it safe to plant them this year? today's date is October 15th

We only recommend planting if you have 4-6 weeks before your first freeze.

Abundant large berries.
Second year we got fruit. They were very large juicy berries. We used two 10' pvc pipes to cross over the top of the plant to hold bird netting so that we got to eat the berries when ripe.

Chandler blueberry
Planted them in containers (7 gallons) for two years.
A lot of new growth, and I am getting berries now. I use protection bag to keep birds away, but chipmunks and squirrels are targeting the berries, I have to something more, netting or fencing.
